thanks poots and skydancer.. i am okay, if i was abit nervous about cycling in that situation i'd have turned around, gone home and cried.. i do my best not to loose it..
the driver said nothing, his face spoke a thousand words though most of it with contempt..
someone in our office witnessed an almighty ruck between a cyclist and a van driver this morning, proper fist fighting..
poots i hope you are okay x

Sorry about that, I just wanted to get to the back of the queue so I could carry on with my text messaging.
You joke (I think) but I saw a motorcyclist texting while riding this morning.

mechanical_vandal - I've not found anything up here. If it's not straight to police worthy I've taken to just sticking it on a blog and then emailing someone suitable in the company with a link to it. Clearly doesn't work if it's a private car.

They always send that out. I've yet to receive any kind of follow-up from any report I've ever made, though.

don't give up bothwell... we all need to keep up the pressure on those that break the law on our roads.

sorry guys, call me thick as a london’s fog but i do not get your points at all. i now that i am a newbie here, but it does not mean that i have just bought my first bike yesterday. On the beginning of that thread, it was said:
**i see no harm in a calm chat if events warrant **
and
now try to confront even the most lethally bad driver (…) there's a message to be delivered out there for sure. but play nice folks or we have a war on our hands!
and
**i agree with *mf.'s comment .......i agree in that simply asking a driver if they were aware of what they had done...and speaking to them in the manner of a 'schoolteacher' can prove more effective than ripping a wing mirror off **
so, i agreed by saying:
**if driver starts arguing, i politely (that depends on the situation really) explain why i am doing it **
because it was slightly misinterpreted, i said:
if you talk polite and explain why you are doing it, in 8 out of 10 cases it works and makes them to say (at least) sorry
where is the difference in the action taken??? further more, i was told :
sensi, why put yourself at such high risk?
and
all you've done there is possibly pissed them off further and put yourself at risk
and
some innocent peddlar will feel the wrath of your actions
what risk do you mean??? bigger than being just run over by an idiot who does not know how to drive a car??? you completely missed my point, even that i said twice:
i just hope that next time they will think twice before make any risky manoeuvre
maybe next time they will think twice before they do the same thing to someone else
so, you prefer to
to do your best to stay calm and carry on cycling and concentrating on the road ahead of you
hoping that any of your friends or fellow cyclists will not be the next
michael evans, killed by a black range rover one sunday morning
rather than put my head down and cycle away, i prefer to stand up and make sure that a reckless driver will know why i do everything to be remembered. next time someone else may not be as lucky as me being squeezed to the kerb by the same selfish idiot in a metal tin. next time someone else may be harmed or killed. if everyone will accept such a faith and just cycle away suffering in dignity and silence, soon such a reckless behaviour may become tolerated and copied by other drivers. if we start letting them know that such a behaviour is not tolerated, there will be no next michael evans any many others killed like him. is it that difficult to understand?

I was cycling up a short steep hill to a t junction. It was a narrow road, and there was a car approaching me.
I heard a car coming up from behind too, so I kept in primary position, but to my horror the car behind me just kept coming, I could hear the engine so knew it wasn't slowing.
The driver coming towards me had to swerve to the left to let the guy through, and once he had got past he immediately stopped in front of me, waiting to turn right just like I was planning to do.
Strange thing though was that this guy lives right opposite me, I recognised the car just before I went to have words with him, and I refrained.
Now I am wondering what to do about it. -

Pretty much anything you do or say is likely to be awkward as he's your neighbour. On that basis I authorise the use of lethal force.

@Sensi.its not difficult to understand how you feel. lets just say that theres enough people on here probably been seriously threatened to mean youre actions are regarded as slightly game. i for one wouldnt be inviting some serious nutter to 'pop a cap' in my ass in stockwell or somewhere.know what i mean?
@ Ade.just go and tell him it scared the shit out of you-was the missus having a baby or something he was rushing wants to be careful guv? -

I hate to point this out, but anyone who uses the roadsafe website should have noticed the following...
Please tell us about people who:
- Drive under the influence of drink or drugs
- Drive with no insurance
- Drive without a licence or whilst disqualified from driving
- Using an un-roadworthy vehicle
We are also happy to hear about:
- Drivers who race or excessively rev their cars close to homes.
- Road layouts that you think may be dangerous or could be improved.
- Criminals who deliberately cause crashes to defraud the insurance industry
...or in other words, they've been inundated with reports from aggrieved cyclists, and are no longer interested since it's one word against the other and with no actual evidence either way, completely pointless following up.

I don't know what it said there before--was something pertaining to cycling taken off the list?

.......
Strange thing though was that this guy lives right opposite me, I recognised the car just before I went to have words with him, and I refrained.
Now I am wondering what to do about it.Video tape the front his house for 30mins every day, and leave the tape on his doorstep. Do it for a few months.
If, God forbid, you're ever unfortunate enough to suffer a terminal illness in the distant future, track him down, introduce yourself on false terms such that you're alone in a room with him. Then slit your throat with a razor.
He will remember you.
Alternatively replace 2. with weird clown make up, psychosis inducing phone calls and desert encounters with Bill Pullman.

You're relying on his owning a VHS player. You might want to check this, before you invest too much time and/or kill yourself.

I'm sure there used to be something about 'inconsiderate' driving.
Edit - Just seen Tiswas' post. Anti-social road use is something that's obviously missing from the current website.

What was that film called again? I seem to remember it was awesome.
(I think this will make sense- if it doesn't then I've got the wrong end of the stick and never mind.)

Does it really do any good? A trucker almost ran me off the road the other day and I thought about calling the number on the back. But then I wondered if anything actually ever gets done about it....?
Al sounds horrible . Good for reporting this. I wonder if we could get info from roadsafe through an foi request as to the extent and type of reports of dangerous or threatening driving. It would be good ammunition for arguments about getting drivers trained better or even upping fines etc
