i vote for 1 day dawn 'till dusk round robin tourney. Date decided by a poll. Any team that can't make the date must get their games played before* the tourney.
*that way, by the time the tourney if finished we will no exactly who has finished where as we won't have to wait for missing teams to catch up their games at later dates
yes!

That's a good idea, work towards the tourney date rather than around it... it'd make the tourney day much more interesting.

indeed. i'd vote for this option for sure.

dude, snide remarks really don't help. how about something constructive?
i'll write whatever i want, who are you to judge it as 'snide' cheeky cunt.

me too,
... so should the teams who don't think they'll make the qualifiers start playing an extra game after league matches? -

But this still makes it unfair to the teams that show up on the day (and have to play more games in a row).
I wonder if it is possible for us to find a date that works for every team on the list? We do have months to do it. If we could do this, then all the rest of the discussion would be moot. Should we have a non-binding poll to see if there is a weekend (or specific day) that all can make?

^ Another good idea.

Good idea, but i wouldn't be surprised if some people just won't know until a few weeks in advance whether they are working / available.
We could poll the best date, with the get-out clause of allowing non-attending teams to play all others in a set advance period.

But the point is that if there is enough time in advance, can't we all reserve that day for the qualies, in the same way that we are all reserving a weekend for the Euros?

totally agree with this

Some people don't know their work shifts far in advance. If you have three days holiday left, you'll want to save those for going to the Euros. I'm just saying, lots of advance notice may not solve this for some folk. As you say, it's a moot point, until we start looking at dates and people have to commit.

How many people are going to have 3 days holiday left in April?
If we have 2+ months notice, it's plenty, surely.
We don't know the date of the euros yet (though we should in the next week according to Clement)
I think we go for the most convenient weekend, and any teams that really can't make it, have to organise their games before the event. If they can't, well, they aren't taking bikepolo seriously enough.

is this going any where?
everyone who wants to play in the quallys should make their day/2days free. Deal with it.

If you cant commit remove your name from the list and lay off a bit of slack for other teams that are committed. Whatever the final decision is i'm gonna try my hardest to be there.

This is a good point. I think that committing to the Euros now means committing to the weekend of the Euros and the weekend of the Qualies.
In any case, most of you suckers aren't going to make it through the qualies, so it's really only one day you need to commit too.
-
• #123
yes matt, good point.
I agree with shins too, if you're not committed enough to book a day off, or pull a sickie, then you lose out. Why make your problems everyone else's.

This is very true...4 teams through. Hopefully londons best... if you can get your arses to the quallys.

side note.
I'll set up Polls on the LPC forum once it's been moved over to become a sub-forum of Polo. I'll also have to add-everyone to the usergroup, as it's a different (better) system for managing users.
This should happen in the next 48 hours i hope.
