I'd like to never step foot in there again.....but i bet i do.
F&CK lifes too short to f@ckin rinse your nuts on this stuff... its friday!

    +1 to everything

  • rays cyst...

  • You said yourself there were other employees in the shop? And should he take his break when it's busy? And he was obviously planning this as he already had the Chinese food.

    effortless logic. i'm impressed Horatio.

You're right actually. I just wanted a pair of forks so I could hit the road. Nevermind..... it is friday though!

  • HIGH5 here comes the weekend!!!!!!!

  • and further more...

    Apple+alt+ctrl+eject

  • I suggest you sell all your bikes and get the tube from now on, in protest.

  • can't believe he didn't offer you any chinese. thats so wrong! i have had poor foamy mouthed penniless tramps offer me a sip of their summer warmed cider. and they have nothing!! yet BLB.. rolling sleeping on piles of £50 notes don't offer you a nibble on a noodle! WAC!

Still you should have pushed the issues with him and resolved it in the shop rather than walk out with the anger.. if 30mins was out of order tell him you don't mind him eating while he serves you. or ask if there is anyone else in to help out!??

  • I would head to Brixton if it were a little closer, I agree their service is spot on.

Whatever. I have heard stories about BC giving bad service, all of which sounded a bit like yours. BC is a really good shop, but they have humans working there, not machines, so sometimes they get it wrong, even after 20 years.

BLB are a young shop, and still learning.

  • Simple thing is, if you work in bike shop, or indeed any shop, don't eat your lunch on the shopfloor (if you can help it), as customers will still come and talk to you and if you brush them off it will come across as being rude.
I don't know the layout at BLB, but in most shops there's usually some place out of sight where one can eat their lunch in peace.
Just saves situations arising like these, even though i can sympathsise on both sides of the story.

  • He offered my his can of guiness last time i was in there and took some bolts off a hub as he didnt have any spare ones left. BLB is fine by me.

  • not another BLB showdown !!!

    Totally true

  • I'm afraid a business cant come to a standstill during a lunch break. Lock the doors if that's the case.

"Excuse me we're closing for half an hour" (then locking the door behind you)?

That's not doing you a favor for sure, but we all have to eat.

  • In thailand even bank clerks eat whilst serving you, but they do it in a cheery, eager to help way .I run a retail business and i have noticed that sods law means as soon as you stick any food in your gob someone will come up to you and ask a question.

We were in BLB the other day and i think downstairs must be in some sort of karmic upheaval because my mate wanted one campy pista crank and they couldn't be arsed to get it from the celler. I think downstairs is some kind of portal to Hell where satan is providing track frames and various italian gems but at a terrible cost.

  • Were you on your mobile?
All shops have moments even Brixton.

    quality

  • Lunch at 4pm? No fucking wonder he was arsey.. I woulda thrown you out the door myself.
Guess that's why I'm not in customer service ;)

Maybe I'll phone in advance next time to ask if he's eaten and if he's willing to help customers.

A mans gotta eat, I agree. It's the way he handled the situation. Perhaps I don't know him well enough and misunderstood. I'm over it anyway.

  • no, it sounds rude, there's no doubt here.

  • It seems a bit weird to me to ask a customer to come back when it is convenient for the shop...

  • BLB are a young shop, and still learning.

they need to go stand on the naughty step and think about what they have done.

  • Hahahaha!!

  • so don't go there again. Stockwell Road is only a short roll away and you can have a sniff round Edwardes while you're over there. Cavendish is central if they're too far. There are better value, more knowledgable and much friendlier places in London. Lots of people know that.

I wouldn't have posted about it really. I just wouldn't shop there again - but actually stick to that. Why go to spend your hard-earned in a place that will see you feeling annoyed and belittled on your way out? Unfortunately it seems to be attempting to cultivate the kind of sniffy atmosphere that high-fashion boutiques and rare record shops used to, before a few people did it with smiles and chats and started wiping them out. I feel sorry for the guys working out the back who are trying to do a good job and having it fucked by the some of the worst shopfloor staff in London. To be openly rude to customers is instant dismissal in most places, and most places are - I'm sorry to put it out there - a lot more stressful environments than a "boutique" specialist bike shop, they really are. Just think Top Girl over christmas and then think of the sixteen-year-olds working long shifts for minimum pay.
