  • i dunno. blb have their days. everyone's always looking for another reason to have a go at them, but they've always been sound to me (once i can actually get them to acknowledge me). i'm okay with them. yeah, they're expensive and can be rude, but they've got nice shit and have helped me out a few times. i'll go back.

  • fair enough dude - so you're happy with that Teddy, it works for you. I think my point was trying to be that if you post about something pissing you off, it's just a gripe and isn't too effective - if it's pissing you off that much just don't shop there.. I used to get that shit from one or two record dealers back in the day - "we've got such cool records that you're going to have to grovel for them if you want them and pay through the nose..." - er - no I don't have to do that mate, bye now. The guys who did best were those who were obliging, because they realised that the customer would sooner spend their money with someone who made it easy. If only out of a sense of business, BLB should be obliging. It's crazy that they're not a lot of the time.

  • I could tell you some stories about Bric klaneb ikes...

    But I'm not gonna.

  • andy I've just pm'ed you about something completely unrelated..well not completely..

  • i have t help customers when i'm on my lunch break everyday. i enjoy a daily meal of cold what the fuck ever i ordered.

  • interesting thread, this whole nasty episode could so easily have been avoided if the gent in question had not chosen to eat his lunch at the counter, not only is this a health and safety nightmare, but he may have found more comfort and be able to relax more in a dedicated food-eating area such as a staff room or cafe where said "chinese" was purchased, this wouuld also have removed the "is he. isn't he working?" confusion....and everyone concerned would have felt a lot better and there would have been no embarassment.

  • +1
he should have moved away from the counter/customer area

  • I agree with Winston,to eat a chinese at the counter is WONG.
    Arghahahahahahah..........

    Arghahahahahahah..........

    that's terrible..

how chan you make a joke like that?

  • was in BC today, just wanted bar tape but the guy (keep forgetting his name, shorter fella, shaved red hair, always smiling) was so nice he cheered me right up and I ended up buying reflective bar ends as well, totally pointless but the good made me not care! :)

  • I swallowed my pride & went to BC again recently & they were great

  • Although I beleive in the right to reply, such forums you describe DO exist ...........for restaurants and pubs.......it is also posssible that these sites have contributed to improved service at restaurants and pubs that are criticised.

  • a while ago, jan trued a buckled wheel for me on the spot, there and then. it took about 30 mins, so he gave me £2 and sent me to the off licence to get two bottles of poland's finest Lech beer, one for me and one for him. he fixed my wheel, i drank beer.

you must have done something wrong. or maybe you smell bad. or just have a bad attitude. or are fiercely ugly. this is a non-story, guy eats lunch, asks you to come back in 30 mins. you post the whole sorry saga on the internet.

  • I like Lech

  • is jan the dude with the beard ? ? ?

the two ladies are nice . . . well when they wanna be and depends how much u bought from them . . .

  • Since when have people EVER gone into bike shops expecting politeness??

    Harden the fuck up.

  • is jan the dude with the beard ? ? ?

I spend almost nothing in there (compared to the hordes who throng the shop - buying complete bikes etc), but the two ladies are nice to me whenever I go in.

  • yeah but they fancy you Bill

  • Who doesn't though, really..

  • "Honk if you don't fancy Buffalo Bill"

  • no-one honked?

    HONK!

  • is this a friendly shop or one to avoid?

my friend who lives in London right now, wanted to get a bike to get around because he hates public transport which im sure everyone here can relate to....he went to the markets to find a cheap thing and ended up buying a unipack sadly as his bike knowledge isn't amazing.....he is the nicest guy going, wouldn't say a bad word about anyone, well spoken and polite.....and as i ride fixed he was intrigued by it and wanted to get into it so yeah, mistakenly got a unipack and wanted to fix up the back wheel so he went into BLB thinking 'seems like a nice place and could give me good advice' with his bike thinking, because bike shops are there in my opinion for advice/information/help/parts however someone in there said "nah, im not working on that"

as a person you wouldn't act snobby like that no matter what position your in.....from other stories ive heard, i think they need to value their customers a bit more.

has anyone got any stories about this shop....good or bad?

  • forum search 1: unipacks, read and absorb
forum search 2: BLB, read and absorb

weigh up pros and cons, make up own mind.

  • ive already read up on the unipacks....i have absorbed it and made my own mind on them
ive also already read some comment on blb

i was looking for a main consensus on the place though

  • Unipack and BLB in the same thread . . this should be a classic

Thats poor from them, i have bought a couple of bits from them, the young dude in the glasses always helpfull, the girls dont appear to give a shit about whether you spend any money there or not. Plus the pricing strategy can be bit of a piss take, but then they do have a somewhat captive audience, and a lot of shit you wont find elsewhere in a shop in London.

However i have heard one too many workshop horror stories on here for me to trust them with working on my bike. You the search function and read for yourself.
