So you're saying that bike choice ultimately comes down to taste?
Are you trying to destroy the internet :-)

anyone seen 29+ fgfs bikes? Would love to see, if someone has been crazy enough to try building one
-
• #4129
Yup, Swede has one.
BB17 serpent, 14bike co ESB and charge scissor are some examples out there.

Here's a serpent.

Here's Dom's ESB in what in my opinion was it's best guise.

The main thing i notice is how long and bulky it is, it really takes a lot of effort to get it in the air, i guess that takes getting used to though? really wish it had a shorter wheelbase
i do think with some nice fat 700c slicks, maybe some drops, it would make a great commuter, not for me though
If you can't get it up, no pun intended, raise your bars, easier to hoist the front end, manual and hop. Looks like you've slammeddatstem which is fast but requires more heft to lift it.

by 29+ I mean ones with 3" knard tyres!
-
• #4134
A &P - shorter wheelbase? no need, shorter stem also allows you to lift the bike more easily, it's easy to bunny hop a super long downhill rig, it's coz the stem is short and allows your weight to sit further back over the rear axle. Bang a 50mm stem on, raise it by 1.5cm or so - instant funbike

This^
Maybe you'd prefer 26" wheels. I would'nt right them off. But ultimately the distribution of the bike is second to the distribution of a 80kg rider. My stem is level with my saddle, and effectivly 50/60mm long (big sweep bars + 90mm stem). All my other bikes are long'n'low.

Loads here:
http://forums.mtbr.com/singlespeed/krampus-singlespeed-870711.htmlI'd be tempted to go 29+ up front. But the 2.1" Nano Raptor on my rear just feels spot on for my use.

I'll echo what's been said about the shorter stem set up.
What's that on there at the moment - 70 or 80mm?
-
• #4137
^ is that yours A&P? If you can't chuck that about then you're a trouser.
The other pic a bit further up the page looks like you've dropped the stem a fair bit

Tough crowd.

I have just been playing with bar height, they just felt so high, like a hybrid, slammed it and it felt better, again, i'm probably just not used to it.
stem is a 70mm, the origanal was 100mm maybe, changed it soon as i took it out the box.
i can hop curbs n shit no problem, even a few small dirt jumps, just really have to go for it, i could hop benches when i rode bmx

Or you could replace your gangsta with one?
Already takes bigger tyres and they make it in your size.
