Nice example of a fatbike running 29er wheels. Salsa Mukluk Ti.

That fatbike softail doesn't look very comfortable. You need a downhill fatbike!
Shit the bed!

Nice pic of the 2013 Kona Honzo.

I really want on of those Cannondale singlespeed 29ers.
Would I ever use it, though?

Only one way to find out ;-)

To be honest if I had the money to splash on the 'Dale I'd spend it on Ultegra Di2 for my cross bike instead.

I reckon you're better off sticking with the Boardman for now. Or at least until you see another ( racier? ) cross frame that you'd want to replace it with.
-
• #2713
Way I see it, if you rarely felt like taking the Boardman for a bit of off roading, then there's little chance of you taking the Cannondale out.
It does mean however, that you can aim for the lightest MTB...

^ You could do a proper weenie build with that dale.

Don't buy it! You'll end up spending a fortune on upgrades.

Don't buy it! We can't take more pictures of your scales.

As I said earlier, future spend is earmarked for the Cross bike, and yes, if I did get the Cannondale it would turn into a money sink.
The critical difference between that and my other bikes (which I will admit have all been money pits) is that I use them all, often.
The 29er would, barring a change in circumstance, hang on the wall for most of the time.

What you can ride on a fully rigid 29er, yet cant ride on a CX bike. Is a pretty fecking narrow window.
So you'd be doing the same sort of riding on both.
Would'nt put me off. But then I have a lot of bike storage space, and am blessed with loads of close-by light trails to ride.

a cx bike would be nowhere near as much fun as that c-dale
-
• #2720
I'm all for spending every available penny on shiny new bikes, but the desire for a new bike tends to originate from wanting to do a particular type of riding.
Singlespeed mtbs can* be great for building strength on the bike.
*I am not a good example of this theory.

^ Of course, I could be wrong.....

I agree.
Built up nice'n'light, SS, with a short stem, and fecking wide bars.

I agree.

Has anyone spotted any last year bargains around the grand mark and steel, before I splash out on the transition two9?
Ah, I've not worked there for about 7 years, so can't really remember. I only ever got my Brompton before I left.
