  • It's a Thursday, it's sunny, I can't think of anything I'm supposed to be doing = hour of power round Regents Park. Inner Circle (though outer circle a (remote) possibility)), 20mph+ avg, minimal conversation maximal pedalling. Should be there from half 6 unless I find something more interesting in the world.

  • Goody good.

I'll prolly be out there at a similar time, unless I come over all sensible and rest a slightly fcuked left knee (the jury's out). I could try for my fastest pace, and you could practice lapping the unfortunate sod with the mudguards.

I didn't know there was an "inner circle" at Regent's Park. It really is, isn't it?

  • I've got a slightly fucked left knee too! and yeah, definitely inner, definitely circular. 0.6miles, 7m of climb. Pretty uninspiring going :P

  • Friday arrived and hung on for dear life. Apart from the bits where he was in front and I was hanging on for dear life. 20 miles, 22.3mph, a lovely post-work spin.

  • A nice little loop, and proof of the work ahead.

Must try harder (repeat as required).

  • Anyone fancy a ride tomorrow (Sunday) morning?

Just got new tires on my geared bike and need to do some training before the DD, preferably on a route with minimal navigating required

  • city strollllllllll!! anyone up to it? 07889322187 chrome bianchi, black clothes, distintive spanish flag in the pack! BC cap!

  • I need to go from Bethnal Green to Stoke Poges (near Slough), tomorrow morning, arriving for 10 am, so probably plan to leave BG around 8am. I'll probably go Hipster spice route, Bayswater Road, Uxbridge Road, under the M25, then a few miles of country roads.

  • I'm toying with just up sticks and riding to Paris on Friday morning with the aim of getting there in 2 days- road bikes- credit card touring-
    plan is-
Fucking early Friday leave- ride to Ashford International.
    Train- Calais.
Get back on bike, ride as far as possible- sleep eat poop.
Get up fucking early, strike for Paris- get on Eurostar.

  • Basically riding to Ashford, and once in France, ride to Paris?

for a moment there, I though you meant cycling down to get the ferry and then to paris, I'm up for that since I can only stretch for the train back to London, if my road bike is ready by tomorrow that is.

  • sounds good.
    build it boy
yep- ride to ashford is short- so an early start means an early train- early arrival in calais- potential 5 hrs more riding in france- find somewhere to stop the night when it gets dark. ride to paris in the morning.

my parents are worried about me riding it on my own, which was the plan... and if no one's up for it- probably will.
need the time in the saddle- the total dist is around 410 km....
    hard, but not undoable.

  • also- importantly- need a route.....

  • The early train to Ashford sound good, let me find out how much would it cost me to go to calais.

As for map, there's one here somewhere in this laybrinth of the forum, lemmie find it.

    edit - found it;

  • there is also the ride to portsmouth, take overnight ferry, sleep on overnight ferry, get up in Le havre cycle, sleep somewhere, reach paris version, which can be done without the sleep part.

  • £105 from Ashford to Calais, pretty steep for an underground ticket!

  • The more we talk about it the more I'm tempted to do this.

  • shite.
i hadn't checked that part yet.
    hmmm....
maybe i'll just ride to devon or something.
    need a good long ride.

  • Devons sound good, still keen on Paris mind, good way to escape the country for a short while.

  • yep, might need some prebooked tix etc, etc.
    and planning.
i promised myself i'd get it done this summer.

  • pre-booked ticket for August is £68, slightly cheaper.

  • i think the ferry thing is the winner....
    cheaper too.
the diepe/ newhaven route sounds the best- it just adds a day.

  • a day is even better, allow us to enjoy the ride than trying to keep everything within time limit.

  • Come to think of it Henry;

    • LCC is now in a position to recruit for these rides. We will confirm this week (by end of Fri 9th July) whether we can offer you work on these rides.

might be a bit risky to bugger off on the day they'll confirm whether we can work on those route?

  • mines been postponed...

  • How's the cannondale Henry?
