  • I finish work at 6. ish. I get home for 7 ish. I do a bike swap, bottle top-up and light-grab, get out of the door for 7:15, ish, and Elmers End for 7:30, ish. 40 or so miles into Kent at as close to 20mph as my little legs will take me. Maybe further if I get carried away with how glorious it is – I've got a nice loop that takes you out to beyond Edenbridge and I reckon I can make it to the turn just as the sun starts going down proper so you get beautiful light over the plains as you head back in towards Ide. While smashing it at threshold.

  • If you're still around next week- I will happily join/ lead* any ride.

*you don't want this. I end up in fields, everytime I try something new.

  • Next week my work will have calmed down a bit so I'll be getting out on time a little more regularly, and if the weather holds am quite keen to keep smashing it into Kent after-hours.

  • Excellent. Its the first day of my holiday on Monday. It will be the first time that exams don't happen for over 5 months in nearly 10 years* (**)

*assuming I pass- which is probably unlikely.
    (forever a student)
    (**bar that year I worked)

  • Well then, come on down and lets have some fun :)

    So romance

  • ^Hovis was late and I got a bit carried away on the first hill so did a shorter route. Still shared a beautiful moment as the sun set in front of us while we headed West across the ridge.
    Pretty good first date, 8/10.

  • did box hill alone

  • Never seen this thread before!

6:30 from Shoreditch tonight, aiming for 30kph average.

Won't get it, with this many hills, but will try.

  • 30kph will be perfectly doable if you start your Garmin in West Wickham. The drag out of town will spoil your chances. Would join in if i I wasn't elsewhere.

Sprinting between traffic lights and trying to bring it down from 38 to 0 on the line is all part of the fun, no?

  • I think we have different definitions of fun :)

Would be bang up for this another time.

  • Gunna start doing 60-100km runs after work in the evenings, as I'm fucking bored with Regents. I realise it's alright for training when you've got a decent pack together, but I can't be bothered dealing with the nodder-clog when the sun's out. Where where you when I was doing winter 7am laps?

I'll post 'em up here when I plan them, if this is the best thread for it? I can't really get out before 6:30 as I only leave work at 6.

  • This is as good a thread as any unless you can promise super-regularity, which with after-work rides I find a little tricky. As mentioned upthread, I'll be trying to do something similar so will probably be up for a few. Last night with Hovis was a Regents-reminiscent blast, only with far fewer traffic lights and people. Winning.

OK, brill - I'm not that regular with anything, so I'll just post 'em up here. Does anyone else do pre-work laps?

I've also set a bunch of hugely unrealistic Strava goals, so if people are interested in KOM Hunting Club then I'm happy to help lead people out on sprints or whatever.

  • Im running a 30 mile weekly ride from near you on weds on another thread. But yeah, rides from shoreditch(ish) in the evening is always great for me.

  • I'm heading for Surrey tomorrow with a mate if anyone is keen. Box Hill, Whitedown Lane (going down it, but might get the pain face on and turn round at the bottom for an ascent), Leith Hill. About 40 miles, won't be fast.

    Route like so: http://www.plotaroute.com/map/2455

Train to Leatherhead from Clapham junction at about 8:30 tomorrow AM. Shout if you're keen. I've done this route once before but in reverse, and I will be relying on maps / phone to navigate, so it might be a bit stop start.

  • Bezzin- looks like a nice route. Like to join you, if you don't mind.

  • I'm thinking about a Kent loop this evening. Leaving Camberwell about 7pm. Circa 45 miles. Anyone keen?

    Sure! PM'd you.

  • Anyone want to roll around Richmond Park tonight? I'm just keeping my tan topped up, so no hammer-time or 3 lap challenge pace.

  • roadie or skidder?

  • I might be Interested only got single speed though road bike is off the road. Also never done richmond park on my single speed so full permission to laugh if I have to get off and push

  • Roadie, obvz.

I should be down there by 7, on my kids bike and in Tokyo Fixed kit
