Is that the flatulence you get after eating a whole box of pies?
-
• #353
Marzipan has a place. And that is on Christmas cake.
I tried Sainsbury's puff pastry pies. Why?
Marzipan has no place. None.

Get. To. Fuck.
Try it. Marzipan on its own I could take or leave, but once baked it becomes toffee like.
Also, if the dates aren't shite, I'm in for a pie-off...

Eating one from Pret, it looks big but there is a big air pocket between the filling and the top. It's very moist but doesn't taste great.

Mincemeat Parcels with Clotted Cream was the desert in the office canteen today. The mincemeat was sublime, with plump raisins and pistachios (!!) and was really thick / sticky.
8.5/10, would smash again.
Pastry would almost certainly have made it a 10.

Just had my first one (okay, two) of the year today.
Mr. Kipling. Probably as generic as it gets but whether it was the fact they were my first, or that I recieved them as a gift - they tasted just great. -
• #366
That was genuinely one of the most boring things I've ever written on the internet.

The mrs has been on the phone, the first mince pies of the year are winging their way home now from greggs. let the feasting begin.
-
• #369
Greggs mince pies probably the best I've had this year easily besting Waitrose Organic and Hestons puff pastry (?!?!) versions.
I wander if it has something to do with the fact they are freshly baked or at least more freshly baked than then supermarket versions.
