  • I've done it to mine, using a tweaked samsung leaked jb rom.

  • Anyone able to grab this for me and put it somewhere that's not a sharing site ?

    friggin work blocks dropbox etc...

  • besides that there's so many custom JB roms for S3

    Cyanogen, Omega, etc...

  • I decided not to buy a US Nexus and just wait for the new Nexii to show up.

Anyone got a useable android in the drawer that I can buy off you for under £100? Unlocked only, as I'm on Giffgaff.

i have an unlocked htc desire hd, a bit battered, the gps is a bit dodgy, and you will need to keep it in it's case, or restick the volume button on, and it needs a new cable, going for £100 plus or minus, say £65?

  • I use GPS quite a bit, so I'll pass on that. Thanks for the offer though.

Tempted to pick up a Huawei G300 from Asda. Anyone have any opinions on it?

  • 4.1.2 is being pushed out to GSM galaxy nexus'.
Just received the notification... all seems well and the same as before, pretty much.

Colleague replaced his Orange Sanfransisco (running CM7) with a G300 (stock). Seems happy.

  • Possible dumb question:

I got a new gmail account, how to I transfer apps associated with the old gmail account/play account to the new email?

  • Pretty sure you can't. You're stuck with the name you have on the old account.

If it is possible, I'd be very interested, as I'd rather not go through my life with Google with the name "thelardboy".

  • you can add another account on the phone, I believe, so you'd at least have access to the old stuff.

(Although that might be a newer feature ...)

  • Can anyone recomend a free camera app that will let me extend the exposure time?

I'm trying to take photos of my new wheel lights, but am only getting a part rotation on them, and don't want to have to break out the SLR for something that I'm only going to dump on twitter

aha, figured it out, thanks :D

I've got an unlocked Desire (unlocked from new, bought sim free). I put Cyanogenmod on it. Works perfectly and has most of a Zagg fully body invisible shield on it. I'm going to wipe it and upgrade Cyanogen from 6 to 7.

    Interested?

  • I got the G300 in the end. I'm currently unlocking, rooting and getting ICS onto it, and it's the usual rollercoaster of emotions.

  • ^^ No worries.

I decided against a Galaxy Nexus in the end and got the S2. The screen just seemed more vibrant to me, if not sharper, and the memory card, slightly faster graphics chip, smaller size and FM radio sealed the deal.

I was buying SIM free, but instead of buying unlocked in the end bought one used but as new on O2 for £200 (with NFC), rooted it, unlocked it and installed Cyanogenmod 10 (i.e. Jelly Bean) on it.

I'm very happy with it, it's a hell of a lot of phone for the money.

  • I'm still happily using my S2. There's no other phone I want at the moment, they're all either too big, too ugly or too shit.

  • I feel the same regarding my Galaxy Nexus.

I'm not even sure I need a new Nexus when they come out... this is still such a great phone and still receiving frequent software updates to make it feel more buttery lovely.

  • If the S2 hadn't been stolen I'd be happy with it for a good few more months. It was as much phone as I needed and then some.

The G300 seems head and shoulders above everything else in its price range and could be a good substitute for LittleHeather's Desire Z when she finally gets shot of it. If not, I can probably back get 50%+ of the price I paid when I flog it on eBay. It'll certainly carry me through until I can have a look at the next gen.

The timing means that waiting seems the best course of action. I prefer Vanilla Android, and Nexus seems the only way to keep up to date without having the pain of rooting and custom roms.

  • This being the second phone I've rooted and installed Cyanogenmod on I'm really not sure that rooting and custom roms are a pain: it really is as easy as following simple instructions. I've had 4.1.2 since I installed Cyanogenmod, which is before the Nexus got it.

That said, it is a risk, undoubtably. And Google are by all accounts about to launch the LG Nexus 4 on 29th October...

  • How long before i can have it in my mitts?

  • You're not allowed it.

What though, the new Nexus phone or Jelly Bean? The new Nexus is still rumour and speculation until Google announce it, although the fact Google employees keep uploading photos to social media with 'Nexus 4' in the EXIF data suggests that it must exist at least as a prototype.

You'd probably prefer the S2 anyway, it only weighs 116g...

  • nm then...

I still need to find a replacement for my iphone. S3 or nexus... hmmm - i know nothing about phones.

  • If you're between the S3 and the Nexus I'd wait a month and see if Google has announced anything.

Some reports suggest Google has a few different versions by different manufacturers coming out: LG, Samsung and Sony. If that's true, your choice of high end Jelly Bean phones will expand massively.
