Not bad at all.

Nice, you can factory reset an S3 from a webpage apparently.

You can test with *#06# if you like - that just displays the IMEI and won't wipe your handset.

Ouch. Any other handsets susceptible?

Looks like it's bollocks.. unless it's a new method?
"Hello. I'm the guy who put this collection together. I've since tried to update it, and to hit 'delete' on it to avoid spreading misinformation, but Exquisite Tweets is still caching the original version. Mea culpa: I didn't do the research before passing it on.There's been a lot of back-and-forth over whether it's true or not (check @pof's timeline for such), and a hell of a lot of people sending it on without double-checking. Myself included.
There is clearly a big security bug here (see the video linked), but it's extremely questionable as to whether it can be activated from a web page or whether it requires a bit of social engineering too!
[Edited to add: and just as I write this, @jwheare has cleared the cache and fixed the bug in Exquisite Tweets. Hopefully that should nip this in the bud.]" -

Well, if it's possible to feed USSD codes to the dialler from a browser, it seems plausible to me. The dialler executes them without you pressing the dial button on my S3.

Lots of people trying it in that thread aren't having any luck.

It doesn't work with my Galaxy Nexus (on Jelly Bean), but it does with my wife's Galaxy S2 (on Gingerbread)

My SGS3 will be here tomorrow, they gave me a better price on Friday than when I rang up last week, £260 instead of £370!
Still a lot of money up front, but I'm on £15/month with actually unlimited data, so it's a pretty good deal for the TCO over 2 years.
Is that with T mobile? I had a similar deal and they cut my fair use when I switched to a sim only contract. Caveat emptor.

Orange, not a sim only as the SGS3 is about £470 sim free.

Anyone got an HTC One S? Opinions, thoughts...
Got a upgrade due shortly and seems like the best move on from my Desire. Don't want to carry a massive tablet size phone around with me.

My good friend Steve has one and loves it. So does his missus who bought one too.
Have to say that I like the size, easier to handle than the one x or my nexus. But, it's nexus ftw. The one s will never get key lime pie.

The eBay application on my Note now fails to load- it comes up, then crashes, freezing the phone until it flashes up a notice saying "eBay has stopped".
Anyone got any ideas?

tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
i know the big update went tits up and they retracted it.
then the 'downdate' fucked it and you had to reDL it. -

Dammit uniinstall it and re install it should work fine after.

Got an update for it today, seems fixed?

Now the iPhone 5 is out, and I have an upgrade. What's the best phone to get? What's the best tariff from vodaphone?
-
• #9021
Depends how long you've been with them. You may have a little haggling power. I only pay 21 a month for my galaxy s2 (600 mins, unlimit. text and web) but next time I may even go sim only unless I can drive that down further.

Apparently it gets worse
Android smartphones: USSD calls can kill SIM cards
I wonder if the fact that I use Opera mitigates these attacks at all

How so? Do you mean the phone isn't worth the amount (I was thinking of getting one 2nd hand soon) or something else?

Had mine for a month or so.
Love it. Quality metal feel, and slender size aside. Its just works.

If you have a large iTunes music collection and are in the Mac ecosystem and happy with iTunes itself, then stay with the iPhone... you are now locked in for good.
If you're free to move around, or prefer Gmail and Google Maps and generally use Spotify or your own music, then go Android.
If you want Android, then the Nexus phones even though outdated still provide the best software experience.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 provides the best hardware experience.
Though I personally believe that software matters more than hardware and that the Nexus phones trump the better hardware provided by the more recently released S3 (or top of the line HTC phones such as the One X).
Today, I would still get the Galaxy Nexus.
That said... back in May, Google announced that "Fall" would see the release of several new Nexus phones. So it may be that if you're good for another month or two then your best option is just to wait for a bit. This is the pre-Christmas bit where you know a load of good products will come out with shipping dates around mid-November.
tl:dr
Today:
Love Apple? Stick with the iPhone.
Love hardware specs? Get the Galaxy S3.
Love the best software? Get the Galaxy Nexus. In a month or two:
Forget everything else, get the new Nexus.
