  • Which at that price £250+ doesn't really make it a viable option anymore.

  • The original is many years old. If you're going to get an iPad at least get the 2nd gen.

    You don't like ipads...

  • If you want more than 7", get a HP Touchpad and install Android 4.

  • Just been playing with flipboard on my phone - that app is lovely and I can't wait for a tablet version.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Archos arnova tablets? I had a go on one as well as the 7inch Samsung offering at lunch. Both are great but for separate reasons. I think I'm leaning towards the 7inch size more though.

Then go for the Nexus 7, you get all the latest updates and cool stuff from google and it's just so good... I'm considering getting rid of my ipad since I've played with it. Shame that android doesn't get as much develloper love as iOS...

  • I'd back the Nexus 7... just no idea what I'd use it for

  • Any idea on android text apps?

Have an old HTC phone and the text app is quite hit and miss with whom it assigns the texts to and wondering if there was a better one out there.

  • Go SMS wasn't bad

  • Plus one for GoSMS Pro

  • I used GoSMS when I was on cyanogen mod as it was far better than the standard text client. The google one is doing well for the moment on my Galaxy Nexus though

  • Get to Nexus. Based on the Archos 101, the tablets aren't great. Good prices, but the hardware is rather lacking; even the modding communities efforts to improve matters are a bit slow. Mind you, I bought it for £120 and sold it for £80, so I didn't too badly.

    For SMS, I like Handcent.

  • Anyone with a Note or a Samsung please tell me how to sync my facebook contacts into my normal contacts. I haven't installed Facebook app.

  • You do need to install Facebook to do that, at least AFAIK.

  • This ones for you, GA2G: Galaxy note 10.1 will be quad core, 2gb RAM...

I think the Note 2 will be what I will be getting. I like the size.

  • One thing I've not worked out with FB app + Samsung S3 ... why do some of my contacts get their pictures but the rest not ? It's very strange

Also, why do some contacts automatically merge with facebook and not others?
Why do maps, youtube, gallery and music hub (never used) keep showing open in task killer?

Technology should only be open when i open it, not when google wants.

  • yup totally agree... there's some fucking weirdness voodoo going on there.

  • I even set taskkiller to aggressively kill everything when the screen is off. Still the gps thingy is blinking when i unlock the screen despite unticking everything but mobile data.
    Do what i want phone!

  • +1 for the nexus 7. It's great, but I really don't know what I need it for.

I really like it, but if work hadn't 'bought it for me' I don't think I could have thought of a reason to buy it.

Got an ipad 1 for checking stuff / reading internets, kindle for books n that, iphone for checking stuff on the go and a laptop for serious stuff.

The nexus just doesn't make me want to get rid of any of the above, despite it being good at most things.

  • Well as soon as Cyanogen 10 is released, I'll switch to it.

This is my concern... I want one cuz I'm into tech and all that. However, I've no idea wtf I'd really use it for. I have a S3, Laptop, PC, PS3/Xbox/Vita, Kindle ....

My apt is so small that I can sit at my PC and watch tv no problems.

  • That's my concern too. But at the same time when I was reading flipboard last night I thought ooh I'd love a tablet right now.

I'll probably end up spending it on more bike bits, that's what usually happens.

  • Nexus 7 peeps - where can you buy, not rent, movies?

In a legal, easy, going-on-holiday-in-2-days-no-wifi way.

Play store seems to be all rental. Bloody drm stuff seems to make this so ridiculously complicated.
