You might be able to get them to deliver to your workplace, if you have your passport or driving licence with you for ID.

I suppose tomorrow I'll have to decided on Nexus or One X, reckon it's just down to personal preference.
-
• #8038
s3?
-
• #8039
My mate Steve has the One S. I think it looks pretty lovely without being massive like the X.
Having said that; get the Nexus or wait for the next Nexus. It makes sense.

I'm on the soak test for the official release - was meant to come through yesterday, but didn't.
soak test is five days - so official release should be next week (at last)

I really do like my S3, but it does sort of annoy me the size. I can't use it with one hand if I need to select something in the top left corner.
Other than that, it's amazingly fast, light, good battery life. I am however wondering, what on earth do people need a quad core phone for ? I've just been using it for facebook/foursquare/web/email/twitter really... I think I might have spent too much on a toy!

Faster processors mean you can use less battery power, its a strategy known as Rush to Idle. Multiple cores can be turned off when not needed and generally, 4 x 1GHz cores will be easier and cheaper to make than 1 x 4GHz core, especially as power consumption normally scales linearly with speed but quadratically with the voltage, and you need more voltage for higher speeds.

Looking around for an "upgrade" on the second hand market to replace a bog standard HTC Desire. I'm looking at spending no more than £150 (cheaper the better) for something that will be a reasonable upgrade to last for 12 months until I can get something nice on a new contract. Thoughts?
-
• #8047
Root the desire - saved £150 quid and £150 won't get you a better phone.
-
• #8048
Agreed, I'm in the same position, I have a Desire and have been looking to upgrade. Sensations are going for £180-£240 and to me anything cheaper isn't worth the upgrade
-
• #8049
Fair do's. I had problems rooting when I looked into it a few months back, but I'll take another stab at it :)
