  • Quad-core as a trend for mobile phones? I don't think there will be as many as we might imagine. Maybe only for the very top of the range, and even so, I am somewhat sceptical.

  • He did say tablet research.

  • So does anyone have tips or suggestions *for a phone.....? I know HTC and Samsung both have fancy multi-core phones coming* soon, any page about them ?

    Oh really hippy?

  • I don't know specific models, but I have gathered from tablet research that the trend is 2012 is quad core + HD screen (think retina display, but Android). So if you can't find one that doesn't have both of these you should wait.

    Yes, really GA2G.

  • Pedantic. I greatly approve.

  • My reply was based on my knowledge of Kirth, who I would identify as a 'prosumer'. I think he will therefore be wanting all four cores ;)

In other news, there is a Transformer Prime on my desk. I need to play with it a bit more.

Interested to know how you get on....where did you get it from? Most places seem out of stock at the mo....

  • Just installed BS Player (http://www.bsplayer.com/) which is brilliant. Connects to my NAS and plays anything I can throw at it, quickly and seamlessly. Ads are not too intrusive either.

Ebuyer. It's lovely, feels very well made, screen is great, has a nice weighty feel of quality to it, fast. Unfortunately though, it's going back!

It has a 'speck' of light bleed in the centre of the screen - this is not a dead pixel, it's more like a small white fleck, the size of perhaps 4 or 5 pixels.

It also has an air or fluid 'bubble' under the screen. This is a intermittent fault, sometimes it's very obvious, sometimes you can't see it, but most of the time there is something there. It's most visible against a plain dark or light background. Putting pressure on that part of the display moves it around, so it's definitely some kind of bubble. It's very slight, and I could live with it if it wasn't for the light bleed.

I am disappointed, but ebuyer have been very helpful so far. I now need to work out where they will be able to collect it from.

I'm going to wait until the Prime is more widely available (and a later batch is being distributed) and buy one from a shop, so if there are any faults with the screen I can return it immediately. I'm also going to get a gold one, as hands on with the grey has shown me it is quite purpley, I do prefer the look of the gold/silver.

This is very poor quality control by Asus, someone should be checking the screens of the finished products in the factory and rejecting any with light bleed or bubbles under the screen. I could live with a dead pixel, but this is really quite unimpressive.

  • Damn, out of stock.

  • my typing has got really bad over the last week, i kept skipping letters, couldn't spell words, thought i was loosing my mind slowly.

then i just realised swiftkey was off

  • I often try and type on my computer now and wonder why it isn't auto correcting my words when randomly jabbing near the keys I mean to press. Then I realise there is no swiftkey on my computer.
