There's a new kid on the block, and its called the FusionGarage Grid10. Its a tablet that uses the GridOS, which itself is an offshoot of Android. Its snazzy looking, but I wonder if it can actually succeed, since it doesn't access the official Android Market....though it can still access Android Apps via the the Amazon Market. But it is a good effort, at differentiating itself in a marketplace that is full of the me-too varieties. One thing in its favour is video-conferencing. Instead of one person being connected to another person in a video-call, many can be online to each other, and all sharing the same screen space. Its available for sale in the US, and possibly over here too, but I haven't checked that far. Lastly, its also got a reasonable quantity of built-in apps.

This might have been covered before but can't recall, I'm keen to move music that's currently on my phone over to the external micro sd card (am running Galaxy S2). I've seen one painful workaround but wondered if anyone had come across an easy way of doing this as I want to use the card for more than just apps (that allow external saving) and photos. Any help gratefully received

I don't quite get it. Plug it in to a PC.. Copy/Paste?

Sell Mac to graphic designer/hipster/music student, buy real computer, problem go away.
No, really, why can't the crapintosh read the SD? Can't you plug the phone in and have it mount the sd as a drive? Or do the same with a card reader?

Gus, install ASTRO and use it to copy and paste folders within your phone.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro&hl=en/mnt/sdcard is your sdcard directory. Not sure where music folder is located on Galaxy S2 just browse around or do a search.
To copy or Move just press and hold directory folder and select. Edit ->Copy / Move -

There's a new kid on the block, and its called the FusionGarage Grid10.
Vaugly worried about this, as their first tablet almost got lost as vapourware, before finally being released, selling +-10 units, then discontinued. Lots of legal shenaningans ensured, and the company efffectively closed down, to re-form as FusionGarage.
Since being announced, its already had $100 slashed from its RRP and its not been released yet. If you're interested do some checks first, would be my advice!
Also, do people use screen protectors? I had one with my Hero, but it made the touchscreen un-usable so I didn't bother, two years later it has a few minor scratches, but now I'm getting a new phone, so I was wondering if anyone had more up to date experiences

Get a phone that has a screen made with Gorilla Glass. Screen protectors are then surplus to requirements.

Just been catching up on this thread. I love the look and feel of the Sony S1 was playing with one in the Sony store on friday. Their own apps and integration with the Bravia screens is cool. The full size SD card slot is a nice feature - people don't get the microSD is slower than the full size cards.
I was also looking at the Grid10 Tablet too, yes the immediate price cut before the units going in to production is a worrying sign. Likewise no information about a UK release either. But still interested so I will keep an eye out for more news.
Oh I'm hoping that Amazon will make their announcement of their tablet soon.
What a coincidence. I was looking at this exact model and few others from Asus yesterday for my girlfriend who is looking for a fairly powerful tablet to replace her laptop.
If you are after a laptop replacement the Transformer will most likely not cut it for you. Look at the new Intel Ultraportables that are hitting the market in the coming weeks. Android isn't really geared for keyboard use, yes the transformer does it but they way in which it works is a tweak at best.

sadly, i have to agree about the keyboard tablet interface isnt 100%. But it will do for now. Though it does boost the batterly life drastically. Epic 16 hours with keyboard!!!

2 days 2 hours so far out of the Sensation and it still has 1/3rd of its bars left.
Everything turned off basically and only a few texts and calls. Pretty sure that's better than I got from the DHD for whoever asked 2 weeks ago. -
• #5644
That's impressive, in a way- but surely you have turned the Sensation into a "feature phone", albeit one with a large screen?
i.e. what is the point of having one of these handsets if, to make it last the day, you cannot use the features that you bought it for?
My nexus lasted from 7.30am until 1.30pm yesterday, and for two hours of that time it was in my pocket doing nothing, before shutting down.

Blah blah blah
I don't use it like this. It was a max life test ffs.
-
• #5646
Fair enough- why even bother taking it out of the house then?
Leave it on the side with all the radio chips turned off, screen off, no alarms, I reckon it would last a while.
You could use it to hold some paper down, in case a gust of wind disturbed them.

turn. off. the. mobile. network!
Both tablets that you highlighted are running Windows, and no other OS at the moment. I'd show those off in the much loved WINDOWS & MICROSOFT Appreciation thread. Oh wait, there isn't one. This thread isn't about tablets, its about Android devices, and yes, that includes Android tablets. If I am wrong, please forgive my confusion.
