  • Thanks, will stick with my current desk charger then.

Most of it is a bit gash but the lamp is ok.

I was going to get a wireless charger just to avoid killing another usb port but they dont seem to be putting wireless charging in any current phones, so it feels wasteful.

  • The Marshmallow OTA should start rolling out to Nexus owners this week...
I didn't get the notification for 3 weeks with lolipop so its worth being patient.

  • Lollipop (both stock and in CM form) has screwed my Nexus 5 with constant slowdowns and freezing, I'm rebooting it half a dozen times a day now.

As such I think I'll be updating to Marshmallow pretty soon now the factory images are out https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

What is the point of locking the bootloader after flashing the image? (Per google's instructions)

  • security I'd guess?

  • I use them and really like having one on my desk at work and one on the sofa at home. Plop the phone down and it's charging. No unplugging if you get a call; less likely to forget to set it to charge, trickle charging all day, so it stays at full charge. Works for me.

However, the new N5X and N6P models don't have wireless charging and many of the current flagships have omitted it, so if you're planning on upgrading soon, I wouldn't bother

  • I thought charging batteries all the time killed them quicker?

    Perform shallow discharges.
    Don't leave it fully charged.
Fully discharge it once a month.
    Keep it cool.

  • And how GCHQ are all up in your shit, reading your texts and watching you masturbate to porn...*

    *maybe.

  • When I hit the power button on my LG G4, before the locksxreen shows up, there is a split second view of the unlocked screen, with whatever app I last open visible.

Surely this is a pretty shoddy security hole. Is it down to Google or LG?

  • LG probably isn't using the AOSP locker.

  • That what I thought. Oh well. Security on a device that holds my entire life's details and acts as a second factor authentication token for my email is probably not that important.

  • My N5 has done the same thing for a while now...

  • Anyone wants to buy a bag of shit aka a OnePlus 2? I have just received an invite and you have another 24-7 hours to buy it. It says the invite can only be used under my email address, but if anyone wants to give it a go, I will forward you the link.

  • I'm pretty sure OnePlus are going to / have lost shit tons of orders due to the new Nexus phones (and the Moto X). I cannot think of a single reason to buy the OnePlus 2

  • Three?

  • perhaps in EU, but the Nexus & Moto X are both very well priced here in the US.
    OnePlus 2 - $329
    Moto X Pure Edition - $399
    Nexus 5X - $379
    Nexus 6P - $429

the best bit ? You can actually order a Moto X / Nexus device... still most people waiting for OnePlus 2 invites. Oh and how about support ? Both Motorola and Google destroy OnePlus for support.

  • I think the whole OnePlus thing plays with your psychology, I mean even though my experience with OnePlus ended being a car crash (btw, still waiting for replacement sim tray almost 3 months later and still getting stupid emails from them), when I got the invite last night, I thought for a split second, Oh... I ought to get this. It's the 'exclusivity' that gets a lot of their customers, I think. A bit like buying a raffle and actually winning the prize. The small market share and the fact that there ain't enough of the OnePlus units going round makes people think they are special as opposed to an iPhone where ever other person has it.

That said, their CS is second to none on the shit scale.

  • Fwiw I'm still very happy with my Moto X.

1+ is huge amounts of sales psychology. And apple is no different, except their exclusively stems from high prices.

  • That same exclusivity that makes people buy Lada cars?

  • Apple are exclusive? Erm... duckduckgo's device sales figures
