Do not want. Can I fake it, unroot update and root again without reset?

I've just started the process to move over to Three to get their £15 4G unlimited deal once it rolls out. I ended up doing it in store in my lunch break, my only concern is that the contract is for £25/month with a £10 "rolling discount".
I asked if this "rolling discount" would end after 12 mths and I was promised it would continue for life, just checking that there wont be any nasty surprises in a years time.
Is that the same for anyone who purchased online?
Mrs mespilus & I had 3 contracts for at least 5 years that had a 'rolling' discount.
The 'discount' only ended when we renegotiated our contracts,
and,
the paperwork they sent showed 'a rolling discount',
to get whatever standard plan we are on down to the pricematch we obtained. -

It's the unlocking of the phone that wipes data, not the rooting.
You should be able to re-root without having lost all settings, etc.

Spotify free now on mobiles
Also been playing with Bloom as a mobile alternative to last.fm, nice interface and good quality selection of music

Cheers, this was indeed the case. Rooted using the Nexus Root Toolkit without any problems.

I've just done a speed test on my new three sim. 13.9 mbps download speeds,
compared to 3.5 on my wifi and 4.8 on O2. -

Ordered one this morning :) They are also doing double clubcard trade in on these, so got mine for £77!
I hope my nephew likes it... and doesn't trash it...
Also, it's cheap to unlock (as the tesco ones are locked to tesco mobile). About £2 for an unlock code from various ebay sellers :)
Did you have a play beore wrapping? Quite a few good reviews online, so wondering about getting one for the g/f for xmas. Which ebay seller did you use for the unlock code please?

On stock android it's Settings>Language & Input>Google Keyboard>Enable Gesture Typing

If that is not there then head to the play store and install Google keyboard. I imagine it will be though.

Thanks; strangely that option is ticked....
Battery life on Moto G is better than the Nexus 4; i get two days of moderate use, would only get one on the 4.

Just to double check,
Chromecast isn't available from UK Google Play store is it?
Available on Amazon UK.
Anyone got any other solutions?
Also, anyone got a link to a decent micro USB to HDMI cable/converter? I can only find HDMI to mini/micro HDMI.

Some smart TVs will act as Chromecast receivers.
Koush's AirCast was implementing Chromecast "transmitting". Google are trying pretty hard to kill this because AirCast doesn't need an app's cooperation, hence DRM crap... See http://www.droid-life.com/tag/allcast/

You probably need some kind of MHL Cable:

Unless you have a nexus 4, in which case SlimPort. -

Not really. It seems really nice, perhaps of a plastic feeling to the back case but that's to be expected really. It's also odd how you can remove the back, but the battery is fixed and can't be swapped out.
Still, I think it's a good looking phone and from the little I used it I wouldn't be unhappy to have one as my daily phone.

Unless you have a nexus 4, in which case SlimPort.SlimPort it is, but following on from this, what would people get, Chromecast or just a cable? Wireless is nice, but the cable seems like much less hassle.

Thought about a roku or something else like that? What do you want, Netflix or local content (or both)?
-
• #13749
Both, the problem is this is for my gf so everything needs to be so amazingly easy so that she'd actually use it, and also requires next to no prior infrastructure.
I was going to do a raspberry pi but then that would mean getting a keyboard, and a mouse, and then she'd have to turn it on because leaving it on all the time wouldn't be an option for her, too much hassle for the application.
Roku seemed liked a good idea, but why spend £60 when the little slimport cable costs £23 or Chromecast costs £35?

Her flatmate's boyfriend just donated a cheap flatscreen TV with HDMI inputs, before this they still had a 17" CRT with inbuilt VCR and a separate DVD player. We currently watch Netflix on the N7 I bought her last year for christmas or one of our N4s as her 2 ancient laptops are beyond help.
I just want for us to be able to watch things in the living room at her place.
Mine installed but lost root.
