was up til fucking 2.45am after restoring my htc one to stock android to run rumrunner to get s-off then wi fi stopped working and couldn't restore from my cwm backup
in the end had to modify the mid & cid to match googles and install the google play edition rom as well which i had been planning to do at a later date.
now have no contacts in my phone as the whole thing including non os data got wiped during the course of my troubleshoot.
will be creating a solid restore point before doing owt else to the phone now so I have a decent base point to revert back to.
but at least I have a stock android htc one now so can get the OTA 4.4 update when it drops.

I've done and FDR on the Nexus 5 and now it fucking mounts on my work machine (it didn't 10min ago). WTF?

This fucking thing won't talk to my computer though. It's going back tomorrow if it doesn't start working soon.
I plugged mine into my win8 work PC yesterday and it worked fine. Copied SMS backup file over no problem.

Your PRISM account started working, now that the intercept is operational it's allowing you to proceed.

It showed the MTP/PTP dropdown the first time I plugged it into my Win7 machine but never showed a drive on the PC.
Tried a bunch of stuff on that machine with no success.
Tried it on Win8 laptop with no success.
Tried both these machines with different cables, no success.
Tried work Win7 machine, no success.
Tried other work Win7 machine, no success.
Tried Mac laptop, no success
Full factory reset, working now on Win7 machine.
So, there's serious issues if this thing gets its knickers in a twist and needs a factory reset to ever mount the drive again.

MTP means it should show as a phone, not in the drives section.
Macs don't come with MTP support, you'd need this: http://www.android.com/filetransfer/

Yeah, I know where it's supposed to show. I mean it appears in File Explorer with the ability to copy files to/from it, not as a drive per se.
The Mac was just a test. The fact is, it didn't work on 4 separate PCs until a factory reset. Given you can't take the battery out - this doesn't bode well.

Gawd this MTP->MTP copying is sloooooooow

On Linux this stuff is a breeze*.
- Only a number of apt-get installs and a FUSE drive to setup and mount with the correct entry in /etc/fstab and a manual command to mount and unmount each time.

I haven't used Linux since Redhat 6 or so. What you just said means almost nothing to me. The thing should work with Windows. Full stop. If it doesn't, it's not fit for purpose and will go back.

Anyway, the piece of shit is working again now. I'm going to keep using the GNex as a backup until I'm sure this thing will work properly.
Two annoying changes: the comma is no longer bottom left, it's a long press of the full stop and the notification bar icons are all white - which in the days of the GNex means no signal as they'd usually be blue when they were communicating.

Currently moving pix and (non-streamed) music over to my N5... No luck with the SMSs yet, I do take your point tho', hippy...

Yeah, in order to ship enough of them on time, they shipped them without 4.4
I'd recommend doing nothing to it and doing a Factory Reset after the update is complete. It might save you some hassle with this bullshit USB issue.

TS, you can backup your sms on your old device and restore them using same app on the N5. I used SMS Backup & Restore. I just copied the txt file between phones and restored it. As I say, I had to allow SMS backup to be the default SMS app while I restored, but then I loaded up hangouts and set it back to default and everything was there.

Why is Carphone Warehouse charging £429 for the 16GB, with the same shipping dates as the Google store.
I'm a bit slow off the mark, looks like I'm getting a white one which wasn't the plan.

Does "Okay, Google" work for everyone?
Doesn't seem to get it to work, might be because I'm using action pro launcher, which is disabling it?

Looks like the N5 might be pretty easy to break apart and fix...

anyone know if there's an easy way to change the colour of the icons in the status bar, the electric blue of the stock android rom is a bit jarring.

^^^Set your language to US english in the voice settings and ok google should work fine (or at least it does with my galaxy nexus). Only works from within the stock launcher though, so you won't be able to use it from inside apps or another launcher.
Dolphin responded:
"We have already on this issue now, hoping to fix it as soon as possible.
Please kindly stayed tuned with Dolphin."
