Dear techiebods, how does one achieve the landscape homescreen wallpapers that was available on previous editions of Android? Now its got a frame that shows horizontal and vertical orientations, but only gives the vertical/portrait view for a homescreen. What have I missed? They can't have taken away something so simple, to replace it with something less functional?
I want to be able to cycle through my 7 home screens, and see the wallpaper shift left or right as I do so. Just like it used to.
All help appreciated. Thank you.

Was on the tube the other day and I saw a poster for this Asus Padphone.
The interesting thing is that its Intel based and is only £180. For the light phone heavy data users this might be an good option.
£180? Where?
Its £600 here. http://www.expansys.com/asus-padfone-2-white-32gb-247496/
As far as I can see, its the base only that is maybe about £165-180. The phone is about £360 on its own? Or have you found a secret outlet that's super cheap?

My bad I put the wrong name in the link text. It's the FonePad.
Its an Intel based tablet/phone - meaning that some of the app in the play store that have compiled code for ARM chips only won't work on the FonePad. Its the same issue the Intel based Motorola handset faced last year. High return rate because users could not buy certain apps. Pure Android apps should work fine! Perhaps it is not as big a problem as it was last year.

I want out of my contract so the FonePad seems attractive, but I already have the Nexus 7. Plus performance wise the Nexus 7 runs rings around it.

Any ideas why my gps tracking signal is now almost constantly on? Used to Randomly switch on if I'm on fb but it was random and quick. Are they now demanding all of my whereabouts all the time???

Something running in the background? Turn it off and on again.

Sounds like phone AIDS...

Turning it off and on again solves 90% of IT problems.
The other 10% is due to Apple products.

They may have started using the FusedLocation services announced at Google IO, so now the app lets the Google Services framework decide what location sources to use, the app just says how accurate it needs to be.

Garmin introducing a GPS unit with Android on it

That's really interesting... it opens up all of the OSM maps and Google Maps to lay users.
Incredible to think Garmin would do that as I thought they got most of their revenue from licensing maps.

"allows users the option of using the rechargeable Li-ion pack (included) or traditional AA batteries"

resurrected my S3. Had to hack the a rom installer script. For some reason my S3 wasn't reporting that it actually WAS an S3. Now running the latest version of MIUI. Quite like it.
Rated as better than most of the others actually. Once you start using it and realise how dynamic it is it's incredible.
