So using the new google maps (on desktop/web). Anyone else? Slow. as. fuck.
-
• #11630
Yeah had it for about 2 weeks. It's disappointingly slow.

• #11631
I think it will speed up once they kill the old one.

Any Google Music users out there have an idea as to data usage? Quick google didn't give me any rough ideas. I have no idea what their compression is.
Late but:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/13/google-play-music-update/Apparently it used to use 'the highest quality available on the current bandwidth', but they are now looking to include bandwidth options

My dad just bought an I Pad 4. His Phone sim card didn't work in terms of an internet connection. It says 3 and 3G yet loads forever. We took the sim out and tried several times. His network is 3.
I put in my sim card on EE net work and it was fine.
I am not sure if it is an issue with 3 or not.
So I told my dad to put his sim card back into his phone and we can test out a wifi hotspot. He has the Samsung S3, I enter the correct password over and over and it just doesn't work.
I got home and tested a wifi hotspot on my phone with a Nexus 7 and it works. First time I used a wifi hotspot.
Any ideas?

So, nothing to do with his SIM worked? I'll take a wild guess and say there's something wrong with his SIM or the network he's on.
-
• #11635
The sim works fine on his phone. It says what network he is on and 3G on the I pad, but everything just loads such as the app store.
Perhaps it is his sim on the Ipad.

Has the iPad / iPhone thread been closed?
-
• #11637
I preferred to post in the most active thread since one device is indeed an Android one. So I think I will stay.

I know in the old days 3 Sims were in some way tied to the device that they were sold with and wouldn't work in other phones, might be worth asking them?

Looks like I might just take a work iphone5 until new nexus released. Then try fix my s3 screen myself.

does anyone know how to disable birthday notifications in google calendar? It's getting really annoying....
-
• #11647
Had a go on a friends one x that was rooted yesterday. With Cynaogen 10. Blimey It's fast.
Think I'm going to do the same with my S2 when I get a chance, it really does breathe new life in to a phone.
Saying that since having my S2 I really don't feel the need to upgrade, anyone else feel like this about phones?
-
• #11648
Me 2. The S2 is all i desire.
Looked into rooting the thing. Looks complicated. Is it worth it?
(I suppose I can only get rid of the samsung bloatware if I root it) -

Calendar app - Menu - Calendars to be displayed - untick contacts birthdays.
^&^^
Have CM 10 on my Arc, its good, but not perfect, and seems to get updates every couple of weeks which gets a bit boring. Thats the only real reason I'm looking to get a N4 tbh. -

Must have app for new android user: shush. When you turn the volume to zero, it pops up a control to set house long to be on silent. Indispensable.
Also, I always install touch Pal contacts as a good replacement dialer.
