Yeah, remember using Rainmeter before but didn't get far. Possibly a bit too much effort required to maintain it but that was a few years ago.

Never really used the sidebar but actually this is worth exploring. I use an iMac so it'd be a mouse click rather than a swipe which is a bit of a pain but not that bad.
Can't see a way to get Trello into it but tbh if there's a good solution with another service then we're not that committed to Trello so can change (though it will be the... 8th(?) similar app I've trialled in the past 2 years!). Cheers

Anyone know about fitbits?
Are they work the £s or are there cheaper alternatives that are just as good?
Asking for a colleague who from the sounds of it just wants a HR and pedometer.

If it doesn't pan out for you and you happen to be a size 50 let me know!

There's a thread on this. Titled Quantified Movement or something.
I think the £15 band I got from Amazon meets your colleague's requirements.

How about a Xiaomi Mi Band 2 Activity Tracker inc Heart Rate Monior
The one I have has been reliable for me over many months.
Cheapest about £16 from gearbest

For the pedometer most mobiles do it nowadays.
For the heart rate monitor ask them why they want it, when they struggle to come up with a reason tell them not to bother. Tends to be the way most conversations I've had about these recently have gone.

I have the charge HR, our work has a Virgin Pulse thing where if you use a tracker that can link to it, you earn points to trade in for Amazon vouchers and the like. Work offered a free fitbit but one without HR, I fancied tracking HR so bought a Charge HR myself.
I like it although in hindsight might not have thrown £100 at it, but it has earned me the same amount in Amazon vouchers.
One thing I will say is that their customer service has been amazing. Mine stopped charging a while ago and they sent me another one within a couple of days. Recently I lost the charging lead (stupid proprietary connector) but they're sending me another one of those for free too.

I think my brother's broken 3 fitbits. Mum got it for him as a gift from M&S or John Lewis or something, so returns have been straightforward each time, but probably best not to get it from somewhere that might not be so good about returns...

I have received a 46T Stronglight chainring that has no ramp or pins. Am I being being optimistic thinking it's still going to shift (other chainring is a 30)?

Both mine were done online directly with Fitbit, bought the original in Argos. FB can see when the device was first paired with your account so takes the two year warranty from there.
I'm not a massive fan of the device, it does what it claims but isn't mind blowing. I was just really impressed with the service.

If it's black I'd be happy to take it off your hands if it doesn't work out.

I'd like to buy an oldish steel frame and build it up with a modernish groupset (main consideration is handlebar shifters). Any idea what to go for? Budget is between 100-200.

They always did in the olden days, before ramps and pins were invented.

Am I being being optimistic thinking it's still going to shift...
Is it an old, double or triple ring, or a new, single one?
Ramps & pins weren't introduced until the early-nineties, so an old ring will shift, but not as smoothly or quietly as a modern one.
If it's a new, single specific ring the teeth will be taller to stop the chain coming off, ie stop it shifting.
What speed chain are you using? 9 speed and up are narrower between the links than 8 speed and earlier, so a modern chain will be snug on an old ring. This won't help shifting and will wear the chain and ring more quickly.

Self amalgamating tape bought. Cheers
-
• #85122
Self-amalgamating tape is tops, but benefits from a top layer of PVC/ electrical insulating tape.
Stops it from self-amalgamating with anything else...... -
• #85123
Will do, thanks.

Mine has been on for years with no covering and it hasn't stuck to anything else. I'd avoid PVC insulating tape for anything, including insulating - it's revolting stuff.

Hmm, maybe I'll try without then!
