If you get one with good latency and good colour depth then you can't go far wrong. I have this one

Thanks chaps, had no luck with that but found a powerlink hidden amongst the parts bin so used that.

It says here:
11 Speed Shimano Mountain cassettes fit on a traditional 10 speed
freehub and do not require the wider 11 speed road freehub. It is NOT
compatible with 11 speed Shimano road cassettesI'm assuming that means that the spacing is different to road 11 speed and a RS685 levers/ultegra long cage mech setup wouldn't work with an MTB 11-32 cassette on a 10 speed hub. Or am I mistaken?

That in reference to the Shimano 11-42 11spd cassette that overhang on the largest sprocket in order to fit on the old 10 speed body.

Actually re-reading the description didn't made it clear, I think it is a 11 speed hubs, best to ask them to clarify it.

Cool, thanks Ed

• #79633
Pretty sure that reads as 10 speed, fine for 11 speed mtb stuff but not road.
-
• #79634
Spacing is the same, but as the largest cog is bigger it's generally far enough way from the spokes to not get in the way.
-
• #79635
I thought it sounded too good to be true when I read it as it would basically mean I don't need a new wheel set for the winter bike!

Is it possible to swap SRAM Force 10 speed levers out for SRAM Rival 22 without needing to recable and retape?
I was thinking if the clamps are the same I could just leave them in place, feed the new cable through and then try and put the new shifters on just by fertling with the tape a bit?
Is that wishful thinking?

• #79637
I had hoped so, but they redesigned the clamp

Fuckers.
Thanks

As part of my never ending road bike refurbishment, I'm replacing the down tube shifters with Shimano RX 100 brifters. The right hand side one clicks 7 times up and down so I'm guessing it's an 8 speed one (Google suggest that RX100 also existed in 7 speed)
-am I going to be ok with a Shimano rear road derailleur RSX, contemporary to the RX100 groupset (I believe)?
-will any 8 speed Shimano road cassette be compatible? -
• #79640
I think you crucially missed out a number after "clicks" in that post. Was it 7?

Yes.
Double check the shifter, it start on 2nd when you did the first click (I know you probably do know this, but just want to make sure we're on the same pages).

oops... Edited.
Yes 7

Yes
Great!

I think we are... When I'm at the end of the going up or down, I guess I'd be at the top or bottom of the cassette (1 or 8) then I can click 7 times, from 1 to 8 or from 8 to 1?
Would the RSX derailleur work? Or should I try to get a RX100 on eBay? There's a couple at the moment.
-
• #79644
RSX work, hell you can just about fit any Shinano derailleur and still work fine, says a Shimano Altus and have a wide range 11-32 cassette for instance.

Thanks!

Shut up and take how much of my money:
Here are some mudguards, can you fettle them, with this rack, and put these rotors on, and set up my brakes, and wrap bars, please? Is that 5o quid or more?

SBC cycles are 😎
Or do you like that aggro with your LBS? -
• #79648
Im trying to work out whether to throw the bike and some money at a shop. I'm very tempted.

Its the only way.

I see.
And how much?
We have SkyGo, Netflix and a dvd/blu-ray library of around 2000 films so a combination of streaming and physical media from a console. Prob PS4 over xbone. Though interested in online streaming like PlaystationNow etc.
Good to know re. online profiles for tinkering with colours. I don't really understand why colours are so abhorrent at point of sale? And motion as well? Looks horrible and gives me a headache. Also good to consider latency for higher res gaming - current gaming is all on PC/mac through Steam/Origin and generally use 2560 resolution so it might feel a step down.
