  • I was all for going with the Challenge one but reviews were mixed. Will shop around.

  • I thought I was vaguely competent at maths.

  • Has anyone recently gotten a bagged bike onto a National Express to Paris? I'm thinking of getting the coach over next week.

    Edit: it's Eurolines

Edit: answered my own question, it's not worth hassle.

  • Does anyone know the law regarding international shipping? i've ordered something from the states it hasn't turned up. I contacted the shop I bought it from, and they've basically said 'fuck you'.
    what can I do?

  • Unless you want to pay American lawyers, or think a media hate campaign will help change their minds, you can't do a great deal unless you paid by credit card or by Paypal. In those cases, seek a chargeback (credit card) or open a dispute (Paypal). If you paid by debit card or bank transfer then suck it up.

  • I ordered something from the states late Friday evening, it arrived this morning. This doesn't help you.

  • I did pay by Paypal. I also work for CNN so I could do the 'I'm going to write an article about you' thing but I'd probably get in trouble for that.

  • Really want a bike for the trips abroad, like to Paris (by coach) next week.

Anyone tried using a bmx instead of a folding bike?

Trying to think of alternatives that aren't a folding bike. (Full size bike isn't an option, according to NX/Eurolines sites)

  • In that case, open up a Paypal dispute. Should at least put the pressure on them to come up with the goods.

  • Huh? A BMX is better if you want to grind yo pegs on the Eiffel Tower but they're pretty effing lame as practical transport and not much shorter than an actual bike for transporting.

What's wrong with a folder? You could get a SS one and make it fixed for max cool cat points.

  • if you ride a fixed wheel bicycle with only a front brake, then packing it small should be very easy.

  • Really want a bike for the trips abroad, like to Paris (by coach) next week.

    Brompton

  • What is the max size allowed?

  • Does anyone know of a microwavable tupperware type container that would fit into a bottle cage? I thought it would a standard thing, but can't find any.

Looking for pre-made porridge transport for my commute. I thought about a Pro tool bottle or something, but don't really think they're suitable for food or microwaves.

  • Microwave at home and transport in a thermos that fits in a bottle cage?

  • Has anyone shipped a pair of wheels Uk to Austria recently?

Any (actual experience relevant rather than speculative) suggestions on how much $$$/who to use would be great.

  • If you're going to put it in a microwave to re-heat it then surely leaving a bowl at your destination and chucking the ingredients in there when you arrive is more easily achieved. Why does the porridge have to commute in a cooked state? If it is because there is no microwave at your destination then eat before you leave. Unless you intend to consume it whilst riding, in which case I doubt you could get the congealed mass out of the bottle. I doubt any bottle is designed to fit microwave as they're probably too tall

  • Is there anywhere reasonably safe/secure to lock up a bike near the ICA? I've never been there before and streetview suggests there's nothing in the vicinity

Part of my original thinking was a bike that would do everything and fit in the car without disassembly. However,Mrs. E's elderly Raleigh Twenty (http://raleightwenty.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=196048688)
-weighs about the same and when folded uses less than half the boot floor - needless to say I've bought one as well

The grey R20 cost £12 from ebay - I've spent on tyres and paint, but recouped more than that by selling the unwanted pedals, brake levers, stand and safety bracket as 'vintage Raleigh, suit Chopper'. If fitting into a coach luggage bay is the main issue, a bit more size and weight than a Brompton might not be a problem, but price (50 Raleigh Twentys to the Brompton?) might be the clincher?

  • A PayPal question. I'm looking to buy something from Italy ad for some reason their paypal button does not work. The whole site is a bit odd http://www.balsamico.it/ (for info). They've emailed me to say they can do a bank transfer but I'm a bit wary. Is it possible for a PayPal account holder to send me an invoice? Where I can click on a link and pay that way with some slight reassurance if it is a scam I might get some money back?

  • If they do have Paypal account they can send you an invoice, you'd just need to supply them your related email address.

  • 42 (or 73!) euros for 100ml of oil is surely already a scam?

  • Thank you I'll ask them to do that. If I hear nothing....

It's the DOP balsamic vinegar I'm after for a present. Not sure if you've ever tasted it but it's amazing. The scam part may be that it's actually a little bit cheaper than others. You can pay even more insane prices if you want to.

  • why are work boots suede?

  • Are they not rough out, rather than suede?
