What's rough out?
I thought suede was just the underside of the leather.
Anyway, I was just wondering why use a light colour with a softer finish, rather than a dark colour with a harder finish?

Sand, cement dust and light scuffs are invisible on tan suede but scruffy on polished dark brown.

It looks like the price tag is still hanging from the saddle. Could that be swinging when you're riding and making a noise?
-
• #71505
Thought it was something like that. Or my next guess was it shows blood.
-
• #71506
It's not a price tag.. and its definitely a mechanical, metal sounding creak

It will fail, replace when possible.

anything that caused it? or is it just old (I've had it maybe 4 years.. )
-
• #71509
4 years is pretty long, could be many factor, hit by something would be my assumption (either from falling off like a fanny or got hit from behind).
-
• #71510
how does one fall off like a fanny?
-
• #71511
By getting tangle up with a fanny pack.

I think a fanny pack worn to the rear - the most likely position to get tangled in your saddle - is a bum bag. To either side (front or rear) is a hip pouch, even if unworn it's the same article. Less alliterative though, I grant you.

Is there an active paint and restoration thread? Search turns up lots of stuff about Mario Vaz but not much else.
Looking to get my 1996 steel Basso resprayed. I want a reliable painter who can accurately match the period correct colours. I'm also considering getting the top tube replaced as it is dented, ideally like for like. Anyone have any experience / suggestions?

The paint prawn thread is where the kolourful kidz hang-out.
I recently sent a customer's frame to Cromaworks, as it needed some work and they share a workshop with Field Cycles.
Argos also spring to mind: any framebuilder is going to have good relationship with a brushmonkey.

basso refurb by steve goff, he's in skelmersdale, and it took awhile, but very nice job
-
• #71517
Yes, very nice job on that. How was his colourmatching? Has the finish proved resilient? and how much did it cost?

Why hasnt anyone made some?
Probably because they are fed up with the stupidity.
My bike's been creaking a bit so decided to investigate this morning.. found what looks like a dent/ buckle in the saddle rails. Could this potentially fail soon? are there any known problems with fizik saddles?
