You were absolutely right by the way. It is indeed the Vintage Bike Cave with the new shop front on Archway Road

You've got to pull it over the rim as tight as possible before you get the very last bit, then have a strong tyre lever like a Koolstop Bead Jack.

But the part of the tyre that would stretch under those conditions isn't the part that keeps it on the rim - or am I being thick?

No marks to Ed and James for showing the forum has moved on since six years ago. For future reference, the correct answer to Pete's and all similar questions is, of course, to post this link:

I'm not sure I understood your question, do you mean tyre bead stretching?
-
• #68357
Push the bead of the tyre out from the clinching surface of the rim and into the bottom of the valley.
That's easy for you to say, but there isn't much of a valley in a TB14

I want to replace my 8 speed sciroccos as they are the old heavy type and get blown all over the place in the wind. What are my options for a cheap, modern-ish low profile 8 speed campag wheelset? Nothing modern seems compatible with 8 speed 😞

Does being fit onto a road bike with an effective seat tube angle of 70* and TT saddle change all the resulting measurements in comparison to a normal road bike with a sta of 72.5* (or my track bike with 74.75*)?
I've included a crappy screenshot of all the relevant bits, but can forward on the email with attachment if anyone would be willing to have a look at it.
I ask because having my saddle at 856mm on my track bike seemed ridiculously high, my toes felt like they were pointing down. I think I have my track, road and everyday bikes at ~825mm.

You are comparing effective STA with different noneffective STA?

A sad day for my Tarmac.
Previous owner had chopped the steerer and looks like it's finally cracked. Either that or I've over tightened.
Suggestions for a new fork? I know I need 1/18 but integrated headset yes?

is £100 too much to ask for some 2yr old Oakley Jawbones, unworn, unused gift, with case, extra lenses, etc, but no packaging?
Need to get rid so I can buy some cycling glasses I can actually put a prescription into..

I think they might be a little overpriced from 2 mins on ebay looking at completed sold listings.

Is that the 'Best before date'?
-
• #68373
No idea. No one knows what they are...
-
• #68374
Yes, same rim tape on both wheels. Also tried pushing the tyre bead into the middle, didn't seem to make any difference.

I'd already used these tyres for a bit on a different set of rims :/
Very good :-)
So I have just been to Condor and been rinsed for a new pair
