Yeah, the logic being that it's winter so you're not going balls out fast much and changing tubes in the rain sucks arse. I knew there was a reason for running heavy heavy fuel.. I mean tyres.

Needlessly anal would be worrying about the hubs weight since the rotating mass is right in the middle, thus you won't feel the excess weight of the hubs getting in the way.
Tyres weight, (At least I think so) are the most noticable when riding your bike due to the rotating mass, I don't want to go all C+ and I'm sure someone else here can able to explain it better than I can!
sure for bombing round London it's not exactly bothersome, but coming from Wimbledon to Clerkenwell regularly I did notice a slight 100g weight difference on the rear tyres!
You are trying to say that the moment of inertia of the wheel is more effected by the mass that is nearer to the outside edge of the wheel. It is proportional to the square of the radius for a given mass. Greater moment of inertia, more kinetic energy a wheel has (while spinning a given angular velocity greater than 0).
However after considering the pro and cons of having a large moment of inertia, I must confess it becomes a moot point when patching a puncture at the side of the road.

Believe me, you don't know the effects of weight till you've pushed an aerospoke into a headwind. That makes a heavy tire feel like a carbon spoked tub.
Thing is, it's nasty at first, but you get used to it quickly.
Anyone know which shops in london have randonneurs in stock? the 23c 'dillo on the back of the langster is about to spontaneously explode.
Never mind, just snapped up 2 28s on wiggle.

FUCK SAKE! how the fuck does someone can put a Randonneur in without fucking puncturing the inner tube??? I just wasted 2 fucking innertube trying to carefully put the fucker on!

You need to know what you're doing Ed, clearly. Putting a tyre on is 95% technique.

by not being a spastic.

alright, 3rd inner tube, thank fuck the shop opposite my road is closing down (for refurbs), so it's buy one get one free.
the hard part is the last bit where you pop the final tyres on without pinching the inner tube.

just check the whole tyres by bending them, found a bit that's not inside the tyres, how exactly do I push that in without removing the tyres?
-

You need to stretch the tyre. Start at the opposite side of the wheel to the valve and pinch the tyre between your forefinger and thumb. Maintaining pressure, rotate the wheel or move your hand towards the valve until you reach the valve. Do the same for the other half of the wheel. Then pop the tyre over the rim. Easy.

My last reply was to your former question. Is the tyre on the rim all the way around? If so, you need to remove it. The tyre will pinch the tube against the rim, hence the puncture. To fix this problem, slightly inflate the inner tube before you start then place the valve in the valve hole. Starting from there push the tube into the tyre and go all the way around. If it pops out then peel the tyre away from the rim whilst holding the inner tube. Once it's in all the way around empty the tube of air. Then do what I said above.

Christ now I can see why people find wire tyres harder.

It's worth the struggle getting the buggers on though

gah took the whole thing off, and pump up the inner tube on it's own to stretch it a bit.

Stop being a fanny and HTFU! ;-)

go away and dool over the vans supercorsa you poppycock.

AHHH! finally did it, I think, now I'm staring at the tyres which is now at 95psi waiting for it to exploded again.

They are a bit tricky these, especially with skinny rims. I fitted mine, realised it was backwards and thought "fuck it" since I wasn't going to wrestle with it again.

if I got a puncture after a couple day, I'll cry.
the worse part is, I have a couple of wheels being build, and have another Randonneur waiting...

oh fucking hell, when I spin my wheel, there's an obvious lump near the value, is that normal on a touring tyres? all my life I've been riding 23c.
-
• #98
not normal.
start again.

fuck you.
give me a minutes to removed the wheel.

fncking class :)
I agree with Dylan on this.. Though it is winter now, and flats are even more annoying so I prefer running Marathon Plus front+back... even though they are hard to push.
