  • Any plumbers on here? I'm thinking about leaving my current company and wondering if anybody knew of any jobs? (London) Advice could be repaid with beer

  • Went for a run on Thursday night and spotted a few clusters of Orthodox Jews praying on the banks of the Lea, in pitch darkness. Was confused. Presumably the ducks, swans and geese of the river Lea are now fat and happy.

Why - Do the river fowl of the Lea eat Hasidim?

  • q) why, whenever i attempt to use my (Android) phone on the go, e.g. earlier tonight in a foreign part of town - to use the Goog maps to check location, does it fail me (simply fails to churn out any result); i'm on Giff Gaff, but pretty sure the same experience was felt previously on Orange, hence are modern mobile phones on 3G next to useless in Lundun-town, or is it just unfortunate experiences??!

  • What are your Google maps location settings like? I moved mine to battery efficiency and they made the results shit when not on a wifi network.

  • Also, have you updated AGPS info lately?

    This app will do it for you;
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&hl=en_GB
and massively speeds up GPS lock on

  • If it was tashlich, as suggested above, presumably they had been doing the following:

Tashlich (תשליך) is a ritual that many Jews observe during Rosh HaShanah. "Tashlich" means "casting off" in Hebrew and involves symbolically casting off the sins of the previous year by tossing pieces of bread or another food into a body of flowing water.

    Didn't spot any bread though...

  • Inline gear adjusters

    I have one of these.

It unwinds itself slowly with handlebar movement. So I figure I should get an indexed one.

Anyone have any experience with either of these?

Thinking of getting the pro one because it has the word pro in it.

  • Man eating ducks is a more likely scenario though, let's face it.

  • ...because it has the word pro in it.

    Look pro.

    Think pro.

    Ride pro.

  • When you say unwind, you mean gets shorter?

Sounds like it's faulty, I've got a couple of exactly the same model that don't.

  • Anyone have a route file or suggestions to get from N5 to Great Horwood ?

  • What's the distance (c-c preferably) between the bag loops on a Brooks (or similar) saddle?

  • c-c in a straight line on a B17 is about 115mm.

  • Looking at posting a box of stuff to Australia. Any recommendations on best/cheapest way about it?

  • hmm, the 'battery efficiency' option is missing in my "Google location settings" menu (on Android);

  • will do, graci!! :-)

  • Is it rude to tell a man who's visitting his boyfriend in Madrid that you hope he's enjoying a churo right now?

Do you think I can plead innocence?

    I've sent the email already.

  • There's a thread about this.

  • I take it you meant the sugary ones not the chocolate covered ones because that's just a bit rude otherwise.

  • You are thinking of churro, churo is a coloqulism for cock...

At least that's what the waiter in Madrid told me as he pushed me to my knees.

  • Does anyone know of any decent peer-reviewed scientific studies on the effect of garlic consumption on the common cold? I've googled it, but just got tons of daily mail / take a break / hippies online type fluff articles. Also, I have a cold, so my research skills are possibly dulled a little.

Oh, I'd forgotten about the garlic thing. I knew a guy who married a Welsh nurse and she swore that the way to cure a cold was to chop up a whole bulb of garlic, very fine, fry it in butter, and then spread the mixture on toast. Sounded rank to me, wouldn't there be garlic chunks? And not very scientific either.

I also have a cold and I feel your pain, bro. Actually I do have some garlic bread in the fridge. Perhaps I'll eat it all, in the interests of experiment. Science!

  • Where can I find this cheese in London?
