You definitely want wider rims, I don't think anybody has gone back once they have tried them. See if the shop will do A119 or A319 instead of the skinny CXP22

GF just told me she's planning a mini break in Oct/Nov to Turkey with one of her female friends.
I think this is borderline insanity, she seems nonplussed by the situation in syria/iraq and 'is going to the safe bit further away from the trouble'.
any geo-political experts on here who know whether it's actually a good idea or not?
Yeah it'll be fine if she's going to a tourist area like the south coast.

Turkey's in NATO right? The west won't stand for any incursions that dangerously near "real europe"...

Should I be worried or is this a normal thing for discs?
Doesn't sound good. Inspect caliper / pads / rotor for damage. Check arm actuation for stickiness / knotchyness. If grindy remove pads and flush mechanism with GT40.

Are Xtreme anything to do with Rodi?
Seems odd they're selling it under the same name as Rodi.

Would 27mm tyres on 23mm rims, lose the benefit of having a wider rim, ie would you be back to square one with a lightbulb profile?
Thinking I should stick with 25mm.

Yes, they are Rodi manufactured rims house-branded as Xtreme by Rosebikes

They won't be a bulb-shaped as all that, go for it.

Slightly but then you gain the benefit of bigger tyres, anyhow having 27mm tyres on 23mm rims will be better than 27mm tyres on 19mm rims.

1" threaded headset top nuts, what is the standard thread pitch etc?
The one on my Muddyfox is stripped so I need to go begging at the LBS in the morning.
I had one in my spares box but the thread was too big, it was from a 1" headset though as an 1 1/8" quillI have wouldn't fit through. The one from my gfs bike fit fine so I presume the one in my spares box is the anomaly.

Just bought deda piega bars thinking it was the curved type, now on second inspection it's the one with the 'kinks'
Will these still thread on to standard 26mm quill stem?
-
• #61548
Should do, especially if your stem has a nifty expander to open up the clamp.
