  • I've just done a ride using my Garmin and the .fit file seems not to have saved correctly/is corrupt.
    Anyone any ideas?
I seem to only have a .bak file to work from. I tried just changing the extension to .fit but that didn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated...

    file

  • Tried that.
Tried changing the .bak file to .fit and then uploading to http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/
Seems to work, but when I upload the resulting 'fixed' file it Strava says no.
    :(

  • Nooooooooo!

What happens when you try to upload it to Garmin Connect? Does it fail there too?

  • No joy

  • It's probably due to insufficient Y chromosomes on the ride - well known issue.

Try not paying for a railway ticket whilst spouting specious bollocks to justify your own selfishness, that normally fixes it.

  • Thanks Neil. That's very helpful :P

  • is jury service weekdays only? or do I need to cancel weekend fun?

    c'mon anyone?

  • Do you get any kind of error messages or anything from garmin connect or does just say the file is corrupt? The garmin connect forums are sometimes helpful for finding out what's up with corrupt files, FWIW.

Alternatively I recommend having a good old recycling session while thinking about the wonders of the universe to take your mind off things.

  • No useful message - just something along the lines of 'your file was not uploaded'.
    Meh!

  • c'mon anyone?

Laner just did it and it was weekdays only.

  • c'mon anyone?

Think it depends on whether you get involved in a very long deliberation from memory, couple of years since I did it. Courts aren't open weekends.

  • cool thanks both! I have something planned the first weekend so hopefully less risk of a long deliberation.

  • How do the former Yugoslavian nations (and the former Yugoslavia itself) punch above their weight so well at football? I'm including the diaspora in this.

    What's that all about?

  • It's a best before, I know that oil doesn't go bad, the flavour is just lost forever.

    Oh, it goes bad alright.
You've never had oil that's gone off?
Go behind any fast food place to the grease bin and breathe deeply.

  • But you have to cook it to kill it (or leave it the open air for a few centuries)

  • I've just had my Sidi Dominator 5 Lorica in size 40 delivered costing £79.

Should I now punt these on eBay and hope nobody notices that there's still 4 more available on Wiggle in this size at just £72 (they're going down by 1% every day they're not sold)

Or should I keep them and try to recover the majority of the £79 by selling my gold Diadora shoes (sames as below but in gold!!):

and my nearly NOS Look MTB I got from eBay recently??

  • My untrained eye can't tell much of a difference from my Diadoras and the Sidis.

  • Any suggestions for which brake pads for Avid BB7 Road Disc? Cheers

Superstar pads are good value and work well. If you are eating through them try the sintered variety - they are noisier but in rough conditions last very well.

  • I've got the new Spyre's (post recall) on my TCX SLR 2, and the front one makes a loud click every once in a while. I've noticed there is some pad movement, so I'm wondering whether the noise is just the pad jumping back into place when they hit the rotor? Quite a disconcerting noise, not dissimilar from the sound you get braking with a loose headset. Should I be worried or is this a normal thing for discs?

  • GF just told me she's planning a mini break in Oct/Nov to Turkey with one of her female friends.

I think this is borderline insanity, she seems nonplussed by the situation in syria/iraq and 'is going to the safe bit further away from the trouble'.

any geo-political experts on here who know whether it's actually a good idea or not?

  • durable wheels for street use? I'd like something that will work fine and last a while.

    Build something stronger and cheaper
    Hubs £34
Rims £34 (or £36, a little deeper and wider)
    Spokes +nipples ~£35
