  • I thought there was, i knew I wasn't going mad

  • There's this one, which is more recruitment focused;

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread30496.html

  • I was thinking of making one along the lines of "Designers, what spoiling your day?"

  • Where do I get Speedplay KeepOn Kovers in London?

    Velosport in putney apparently

  • Who plays spotter in The IT Crowd, what's ruining your day?

  • I seem to remember one called "IT professionals" or something similar, but can't find it

  • When drilling/dremeling out fused bolts in your cleat on a pair of waterproof shoes... How do you replace the plate when it's all sealed in?

got some winter sidi's bit I can't see how to get the plate out, I'd rather not start cutting them up

  • Who plays spotter in The IT Crowd, what's ruining your day?

I seem to remember one called "IT professionals" or something similar, but can't find it

Thats what I thought it as called too

  • Before I make one, is there a thread for IT workers to talk in? IT isn't the easiest phrase to search for

    Yes

  • Can I have a link then please?

  • Two months into our new rented house the black mould has returned again it would appear whoever decorated the last time just painted over it. Anyway we've since discovered the back and underside of the leather sofa have the mouldy shit, she is convinced it's ruined. The wall behind, it's paper is coming up and the floorboards are damp too!

    We don't dry indoors
We have windows at front and back of house open a crack
No air bricks or vents anywhere
Heating on when in house - not made of money

They are dropping a dehumidifier around on Wednesday and I'm going to bleach the shit out of it, again.

How long do I wait until I phone the Environmental Health? and who buys me a new fucking sofa!

    PS
Not sure I want a new sofa if its going to happen again can I break the contract and find somewhere else to live or is this only if they do nothing about it?

Is the mould emanating from an exterior or interior wall. It could be something simple like the guttering above that point is full of shit and all the rain from the roof is running off down the wall or pooling on the ground outside with nowhere to go. It will find its way in through the bricks or up under the floor. If it's an interior part of the flat then you could have a leaky pipe under the floor.
If you can track the cause down then your landlord can get it fixed before it causes any more damage for either of you. Look at your small print regards his maintenance of the place and see if there's some leverage.
A very diluted solution of bleach wiped over the mouldy bits of your sofa will kill it off and you should move it away from the damp if you can until the problem is sorted out. I doubt you'd get anything out of your landlord for the sofa yet but once you have informed him or he breaches his side of the contract you may be able to. At the very least you may be able to threaten small claims court if it comes to it.

  • Can I have a link then please?

No idea what it was called and the job threads obscure likely hits. Here's some options..

http://www.lfgss.com/thread30496.html is 7 pages so I presume it went a bit more general IT after the OP. I might move it out into M&M and make it generic.

  • It's the lower part of every external wall (bungalow)

I sent the estate agent the pictures and he emailed back straight away saying he's forwarding them onto the landlord and getting some builders to see what can be done.

She'd digging out the contract but can we ask to leave the place early as we have kids and think it is unsuitable to live in?

She want's out rather than wait

  • I'd say you have a strong case to get out of the contract with no penalty.

  • I wouldn't. The principle of caveat lessee remains alive and kicking. There is no implied covenant in a lease of residential property that the premises are suitable for human habitation. Read the terms of the tenancy agreement, by all means, but I doubt that the landlord is under any obligation to do anything if the damp is due to an inherent defect in the building.

  • When drilling/dremeling out fused bolts in your cleat on a pair of waterproof shoes... How do you replace the plate when it's all sealed in?

got some winter sidi's bit I can't see how to get the plate out, I'd rather not start cutting them up

Why do you need to? If you drill them out properly the plate should remain intact.

  • Apple or try your luck on eBay - the non-apple ones just aren't worth the hassle (been through 2). You can see the cycle count so second hand can be ok.

    Cheers dude.
I put a new fan and an off-brand battery in my old MacBook and it bought me a year.

I'm just looking to drop £300-400ish on an SSD/16GBram/New Battery rather than £1500 on a new machine.

    Another question...

Anyone know any good/indie/credible streetwear blogs that might be receptive to a press release about something I'm working on? Can't really give more detail than that. Thanks in advance.

  • colleague looking at a de rosa, alu, built with daytona. 2 questions.

300e seems like a great deal to me, but anyone disagree?

Any shipping tips from Italy? particularly good companies?

  • Got a carbon frame with Aluminium lugs (LOOK KG231). The seat tube diameter should be 25.0 but measures 25.1 at the top of the tube.
When inserting a 25.0 post there is a visible gap. Would a Nitto shim or brass sheeting as suitable for bars be suitbale for a post?
The tube 'feels' loose the whole way down. Ifff the diameter is 25.1 the whole way down, not just at the lip, then would there be any issues shimming at top only? With carbon tubing? Surely it is not likely to be 25.1 the whole way down...?

  • If you shim it, you're looking at 0.002" thick material, which is more foil than sheet.

0.1mm tolerance on the diameter is pretty normal, have you tried just fitting the seat post and clamping it up?

Have you actually measured the post to see if it's under size? Again, a minus tolerance of 0.1mm on diameter isn't unusual. If you want something that's snug, you could get a 25.4mm post and turn it down in a lathe, as long as it's not some weight weenie thin-walled post.

  • Not measured the post. Its a Thomson, 2nd hand, claimed to have been fitted once then removed. Looks to be the case. If it is as new as looks, is manufacture error a realistic possibility?
Tightened to a torque I wouldnt get any movement at with traditional clamp and the post can be rotated failr easily. Without assurances something isnt wrong I'm reluctant to tighten further.
The 25 is oval walled, nothing like as thin as a Thomson Masterpiece 31.6 I've seen, I'll get a photo up shortly. Can I expect the 25.4 to be the same?

  • credit cards: is it likely or unlikely that a bank that gave me my credit card, will give me a 2nd 'balance transfer' credit card for me to transfer my current balance over from, or will i likely have to go somewhere else

  • The clamp can't be tightened any more and a toddler could twist the post.
A shit mechanic with digital calipera measured 25.1 seat tube diameter.

The 25.4 Thomson looks like it won't be an option.
