I find 10 quid for a single sprocket ridiculous!

srs q - didn't want to feed the troll so putting it here..
All the foffas that I've seen pictures of on here have threaded headsets which are obviously now much less common and in my experience exceedingly rare on new frames. Is this any indicator of anything? are the frames "old" designs? or is it merely fashion that pretty much every other new bike sold has threadless??

Style over substance.

Probably also cheaper since a lot of the factories that put out inexpensive frames are still set up for threaded steerers.

I wouldn't have thought there is a massive price difference between the two steerer tubes and the 1/8" size difference, nor the way they attach to the jigs. They're usually on cheaper bikes because the very cheapest headsets and stems are quill. And although foffa are/were overpriced they are not bottom of the range BSO jobs and have parts on them that could easily include an ahead stem, it'll just be a looks thing, vintage and custom and all that.

Need new front derailleur. Any difference between Ultegra, 105 and lower specs?
-
• #55434
I'd go for 105, Hippy. Best bang for your buck I reckon.
-
• #55435
The '105' text is very small!

I'm 5' 8'' and ride a 54 road bike with a 172.5mm crank. Would I notice any difference with a 175mm crank?? (as on my Mtbs?)
-
• #55437
You wouldn't notice if the crank pixies came in the night and changed them over without telling you.
-
• #55438
... but because I know the length would have changed, I would. Is that what you're saying?
Its only 2.5mm though isn't..
-
• #55439
You might notice it initially but after about 10min of dodging traffic you will have forgotten all about the change.

Yeah, I'm thinking that. Front der doesn't do anything tricky anyway and it's just for the winter/commuter bike. Rear derailler is sticking again so I'm now down to about 3 gears. Almost enough to make a man move to Campag..
Not.

Don't do it.
Winter has seized my front mech (105) too. I might try and rescue it but will probably end up buying something from ebay.

What's the extra washer part #10 for?
http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/EV/bikecomponents/RD/EV-RD-6600-2358A_v1_m56577569830621055.pdfI might wander over to Evans/Surgery later to eyeball 105.

To lower average HR when riding, what would be more beneficial in regards to training? Intervals at threshold or longer rides in, lets say Zone 1/2.
-
• #55444
Pedaling slower would be more effective than both of those.
-
• #55445
Are you comparing exploded parts drawings to choose a rear mech??
That is keen.
-
• #55446
Yeah, because I know the Ultegra is serviceable, I wondered if the 105 is also? Then I got curious about the extra bits and if they help or hinder durability in Brshitain.

Two months into our new rented house the black mould has returned again it would appear whoever decorated the last time just painted over it. Anyway we've since discovered the back and underside of the leather sofa have the mouldy shit, she is convinced it's ruined. The wall behind, it's paper is coming up and the floorboards are damp too!
We don't dry indoors
We have windows at front and back of house open a crack
No air bricks or vents anywhere
Heating on when in house - not made of moneyThey are dropping a dehumidifier around on Wednesday and I'm going to bleach the shit out of it, again.
How long do I wait until I phone the Environmental Health? and who buys me a new fucking sofa!
PS
Not sure I want a new sofa if its going to happen again can I break the contract and find somewhere else to live or is this only if they do nothing about it? -

Before I make one, is there a thread for IT workers to talk in? IT isn't the easiest phrase to search for
-

There is, can't find it though.
Cheap cassette every time (Tiagra), or just replace the chain more regularly to ensure the cassette to last for a long time.
