  • pads, should last more than 2 months...

Not for me mate, working on the road in London with 2 brakes & freewheel. Using the brakes nearly as much as I'm pedalling forwards.

  • you are special Max... but I think you are doing something wrong

  • Balls, Rik. I have got through a set of front pads in week if I have been couriering and it has been wet every day.

  • Thank you Will

  • Don't you stay at home if it's wet though Max?

    #justkidding

  • I don't use my breaks if it is

    #justskidding

    I'll get my etc

  • Shut the door behind yer

  • can someone give the url for that bikesnob cyclocross pic? you know the one where the guy has an eagle on his head?
    ta

  • you mean sheldon brown? :-o
    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/eagle.html

  • No. I mean the pic of the dude in wellies, giving it some on a cyclocross event, in Portland. In the mud.

  • it was a rubber chicken, not an eagle

  • Observer effect. It looked massive to me.

  • Brilliant. Ta Matt.

  • How long would you normally expect brake pads and tyres to last? I've worn my front pads to the metal (oops) in less than 1500 miles, and the rear tyre (ultra gatorskin) isn't looking too happy either. Probably just because I'm a fat git doing mostly town miles.

    What brand of pads?

Rear tyres tend to wear faster than the front, if there is still some life in it then you could just swap them over.

  • How do you remove Phil Wood hub spacers (rear hub)?
One of them is loose enough to unscrew by hand. But then it would seem you need to hold the axle in place to unscrew the other. I don't want to damage the threads.
It doesn't feel right somehow; what am I doing wrong?
    EDIT
Tried last week to Google it, failed.
    Tried tonight, succeeded.

Clamp the wheel in the frame, remove axle bolt, insert allen key, loosen. Repeat on other side.
    Voila!

  • I'm posting on a car forum and LFGSS at the moment and that post ^ really threw me for a second!

  • I would say 28c
