  • Ta, as usual.

  • Cross posting this:

Who did I talk with today on the coffee ride about a loPro?

The seller asked for contact but concussion=forgotten who I was telling about it.

  • ^^ obvious new spokes is obvious

  • It's only an Alex S500 and can I fuck find where to buy the rims. I'm (should be) getting a S480 rear with hardly any use so it would make sense to swap the hubs/rims over but it then would make sense (based on those links) to get new spokes and defintely a grown up?

  • just buy a set of S480s (why?!) for seventy notes..?

  • No learning and cost innit

I also have no clue what I'm doing except trying to save a few bob

Yeah, I know, yet I would still feel more comfortable shelling out those extra few dollars - nicks that might have been missed and cetera.

  • Planning to sell some old techno vinyl. What are my options apart from eBay or Discogs? Some discs I have are offered for 300 euros on Discogs but I wondered if I am missing another route to sell.

  • why is this shit happening?

I checked if I put on the tyre properly; i have. It keeps happening at random places on the rim, I am using a 700X25 schwalbe marathon and a nutrack 700c 23/25c inner tube, inflating it 20psi less than what it says on the tyre. It doesent happen as soon I pump it up, happens in like couple of mins later, what the fuck is this shit!

edit: I had marathon supremes on there 32c and they were working fine ..

  • I had that happen with other tyres - in particular the Maxxis Refuse - by my reckoning it just took time for the wire bead to unroll enough to and hold against the rim. Deflate, re-inflate, keep going until it holds. That worked for me. Someone may have a better explanation though.

  • There's often a bit of variation in tire diameters, even within the same model range.
Have you tried another identical one?
Also, don't fill it all the way before going around the circumference ensuring it hasn't moved while inflating.

  • ^^ deflate/inflate done 3 times but i'll do more.
^ I had marathon supreme there before which worked absolutely fine, this is marathon (the basic one)

    Strange as fuck

  • It may help to go for a quick ride and take your pump along. In my case I had to fix it 3 times on the way to work one day with new tyres, but then it held.

  • ^ ofcourse not a track pump right? ;)

  • I actually went out to the supermarket on the bike then noticed this and walked all the way back thinking it'd be a catastrophic fail

  • Stick a bigger dia inner tube in

  • ^ would that work? I have a 28 to 35c tube, would it work with a 25c tyre?
whn i saw that my first response was the tube must be big for the tyre ... maybe i should try.

  • is your tyre seated properly? IE. is the bead the same depth in the rim all the way around before you pump it up? If the bead is too far into the well of the rim at one spot, it will be loose at the opposite point on the rim.

  • I checked but will check again, the loosing pattern is very random though ..

  • Measure the interior width of your rim. 13 - 17mm will take a 25C tyre. 19mm and above is too wide for your tyre. If your rim is right then a narrower inner tube is required as the thickness of the tyre carcass is probably too much for your current tube. Failing all that make sure the rim is very clean and tyre is nice and warm before you fit it.

  • If it is not seated properly it could appear anywhere. It's very easy to do/miss. The reflective strip will help identify it if that is the case. Fit it, put some air in just so that the tyre holds it shape and then check that the strip is the same distance from the edge of the rim all the way around and on both sides

  • basically i bought this bike on the forum last week, it came with 25c tyres and i rode around 50 miles on them and decided to upgrade to better tyres, so i m sure the rim is compatible with 25c tyres

  • Marathon Supreme 32c tyre on a 24mm rim designed for 29er tyres - is this a bad idea?
