Would you buy from a shop that didn't set a bike up well and don't even include the whole thing in the single poor shot?
Yes I would, and have done in the past once I have the necessary information, and of course by not doing a Dammit of buying the item and not checking it for 4 months.

Are those extra parts and time worth the extra money? Will you really get that price even with those changes? I'd much rather try dropping the price first
(Not having a go, serious question) -

I think we should pass the cap round and buy the poor guys bike, if only to stop the whinging
£1.27 in coppers to start off..

If it would have been my size, I would have offered you £300 cash I think its a fair price for a very nice looking bike, think the photo is ok & I can live with red tires

They bought it. Their problem.
If they really don't want it then they should reimburse you with the ebay fees.
Unfortunately ebay doesn't work like that. If they've not yet paid the buyer can back out and there's nothing the seller can do to be compensated for loss of interest (from less flaky buyers), money or time.
I found out when nameless forumenger slipped and pressed the Buy button with a frameset I was selling.
Booo.

Another quick one - an ebay buyer bought my SLX01 frame (56cm) is now saying 'BMC 56cm is more like a normal 58cm and will be too big for me'... 1. is it as easy as that for him to say i don't want it anymore?
Unfortunately yes. And you can't even give him -ve feedback. You can get the listing fees back from eBay. You can also repay the favour next time he is selling something if you want revenge and can be arsed.

(Not having a go, serious question)Very much this.
Spending £45 on a pair of Gatorskin does not magically raise it's price to £100, second hand good does not work out like that.
It just mean you've fitted new tyres and selling them for £345 instead of £300.

I need a crankset to finish my build. I want to get on the road as soon as possible. Should I aim for either 130 or 144 if I want to run 52 and do 20 mile a day commute?
I don't want to spend more than 30 as I need a rear wheel to.

130, look at the Velosolo Lasco crankset for budget.

What would be some suggestions for budget single speed wheelsets that will take 32 tyre?
Thinking of building a single speed Pompino for some light touring.

Mavic A119 laced to On-One/Novatec hubs with ACI spokes, <£100

^ This, ironically A119 is claimed to be lighter than A319/719.

Cheers Ed
I'll see what's up second hand and then buy new shit if nobody sells me stuff now!

A119 has single eyelets, A319 is a similar but deeper (heavier) extrusion with (heavier) double eyelets. There's no irony there, the 319 is more expensive because it's made of more stuff.
-
• #43271
Single eyelets means that it's just through the outer wall? Double being the one joining the two walls?

• #43272
Yes

The braking surface on my front is probably past it. I fancy a new one but wonder would it be cheaper to buy a new rim and re-use spokes and hub and is it a straight swap or do I get a grown up?
-
• #43275
This was covered in the wheelbuilding thread a few days ago, a rim swap is an easy introduction to wheel building.
It might help sell the bicycle, but it still got a low-end frame and groupset that still need a price to reflect it, says £300-350 complete.
