Well it is a Fucktones cd so you may be right.
How rude!?! ;P

It's an easy job, Mrak... Turn boiler off, turn taps on 'til you get to about 1.5, close taps, turn boiler back on...

Didnt' work. Hoping it's a fuse now. Seem to be spares in the boiler already. (boiler fuse, rather than wall fuse).

Check any outlet pipes - we've had problems before where the condensate from the boiler froze in the external pipe that takes it out to the drain. The resultant pressure back-up stopped the boiler working.

Hmm. I don't know how to do that. Maybe this is a problem...
In any case, I changed the fuse (in the innards of the beast fighting my way through all those cables) and it has electricity again. Making sounds like it normally does. Only lost one screw in the process as well. Win.
However, same issues that was sporadically happening before (hot water for taps not coming out - starts to warm up, and something seems to flick over and it gets cold again. Starts to warm up, something flicks over again, ad infinitum). I will look into this more thoroughly though.

Is it an old boiler? We had a problem where the water would take a while to start to go hot, then get to scalding, then go cold, yo-yoing between the two forever. Was worse in summer, less common in winter.
Insides of the pipes had got all scaled and the thermostat was getting confused. It was a new boiler jobby.

Yeah, that's what it's doing (well, it doesn't get scalding, but as it starts to get hot/warm something ticks in the boiler and it gets freezing again. About a 10-15 second cycle). Heating is fine. Just the taps it seems. Happened twice in the last two days, but went away after turning heating off for a while. Assumed the cold spell was causing it to over heat.

I predict that the diverter valve is borked.
-
• #40636
Come fix it. About time you do some DIY you lazy bastard.
-
• #40637
Okay, so when I pressurized it (cold, no power) I got it up to 1.2. It's 1.5 now (presumably because it's hot. The manual says pressurize to 1.5 cold. Should I add more (i.e. 1.8)?

Don't think it'll hurt to top up to there.

Had to hire a car last weekend - small scuff under bumper near exhaust (Seat Leon ). Have to pay for the damage - any idea of how much this sort of repair costs ? New I should always stick to two wheels, could've got away without it n'all. Bollards.

120psi should sort it all out.

About 8.3 bar.

How much was your excess?
Hire car firms have a tendency to trouser the lot if they can.

• #40643
they kept a 200 quid deposit with a 600 quid excess - oh dear.
-
• #40644
Well, I would say £800 is unreasonable, however the most recent quote I got to repaint my bumper with a small repair was £200.
I got a whole new bumper that didn't need repairing for £50 instead.

Does anyone have a lady's/town bike I could borrow (for mrs_com) for a few days in March. And more importantly, doesn't mind dropping it off at Paddington Station on a Thursday or Friday morning and picking it up again on the Saturday or Sunday - for a fee?
/small cycling holiday
/getting train from Paddington
/mrs_com won't cycle in London -

My wife is asleep on the sofa.
How much trouble do you think I will be in if I give in to the overwhelming temptation to tickle her? -
• #40648
4 minutes since you asked. You dead yet???

• #40649
She woke up before I could put my plan into action.

I once almost died trying to tickle my wife...
Red needle is normally to remind you where it was last time you looked.
I've always been told black needle should be between 1 and 1.5ish when cold.
