Do you mean for RRA records? http://www.rra.org.uk/section%207%20-%20courses.html

yup that's the one! (I had a feeling you'd be the one to answer that!)

Why is it so difficult for music players to randomise songs?
I realise that I have a fair few songs by the same artist but to play 10 songs in a row all by the same artist is a bit of a joke when I've told it to shuffle every song I have.

What's the player? Have you given it some indication that this artist is one of your favourites, either by rating them or even listening to them more than others?
If I remember correctly, people complained that the ipod's shuffle wasn't random enough because it played back to back songs by the same artist or repeated songs etc. Apple responded by changing the software so this was less likely, which effectively made it less random than it was to start with.

The player is Banshee on Ubuntu. I found that my iRiver mp3 player was almost as bad.
I never bother rating songs. All the songs have only recently been transferred on to the laptop I'm using. Since I've started using it it's been on constant random, if I don't like a song I remove it instead of skipping.

Quick n dirty spoke length calculation, I have a rim that's built onto a hub with 66mm spoke circle diameter using +/- 275mm spokes. To rebuild that rim to a hub with 58mm spoke circle diameter I should use 2??mm spokes?
I'm thinking around 277/278mm.

But if it's random, it can be any order can't it?
Not no order?

Have you now only got 10 songs left, all by one artist?

Exactly this, Apple did do that. In fact I think you can change the probability of it playing subsequent songs by the same artist or from the same album in the settings. The common human perception of something that is random is actually more like an even distribution of elements. E.g., if you ask someone to draw dots on a page in a random way, they end up drawing them more or less evenly spaced, as opposed to a truly random distribution in which you'd expect to see clusters of dots.
It's like lottery numbers - the chance of the numbers being drawn as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 is exactly the same as them being drawn 22, 3, 14, 40, 7, 31, but people would have a hard time perceiving the former as a random outcome.

though, that said, My ipod is always on random and annoying the same songs come up on a regular basis. Way to regular to be random.

especially the bad ones

Just like the number 23.

Apple can't do random, it's like if Jobsie woke from the grave and ditched his black polo neck for a pink tutu.

I make a "smart" list and set the parameters so that replays of songs and artists happen less often. I choose to believe that it works better than before.

• #40617
This list includes all of my music.

Anyone know what theyre doing around HB-7600 hubs that can give me a hand regreasing?
Riding them in the snow was stupid I have a gritty rear and a seriously wobbly front (i think the front might just need the cones tightening)

There's no way to tell without knowing the spoke count and crossing pattern. If the pattern is ideally tangential, the spoke length will barely change with hub diameter. Flange spacing comes into it too.

Ok cheers, have dismantled everything, measured it all, papped it into the DT Swiss calculator and it seems like 275mm is the spoke to go for.
It was 3x and 36h if you're interested.

Who knows about boilers? Ours has cut out. No lights. The last couple of days it has been acting a bit funny (not getting hot water to the taps if the radiators had been going). The internet mentions if may need to be re-pressurized (?). Is this something a normal can do?

is it a combi? Has the water pressure dropped below 1psi? there should be a tap to fill the central heating system again.

Google the manufacturer/model etc. Manual should tell you how to re-pressureise. If set up right it's a piece of piss, so easy even I can successfully do it.
Don't over-pressurise though.

Cheers guys. The black needle is at 0.8. Red needle is over 1. I'm guessing the 0.8 is the cold coming in. I'll play with it. Here's hoping that fixes it.

Red needle is adjustable. Presumably there to tell me when it's getting low. Ooops.
Not sure it's official, but Cafe St Germain is a fairly usual meeting spot.
