ffs. Why have I got dicks for thumbs? Rounded another cleat bolt today. Where sells that screw extractor/who has one I can use?

Excellent idea! You'll then have so much other shite to worry about, you'll totally forget the original problem!
No, I'm not talking about Android. You will have nothing to worry about, because Steve Jobs will sort everything out for you, so you there's nothing to fiddle about.

Next time you replace them, get some Torx™ headed screws, they don't get fucked up as easily as the Allen screws. The problem with countersunk and button head Allen screws is that the tiny drive interface can't handle as much torque as the screw itself.

Fair enough. I'm in till about 10 in the morning if he wants to swing by and sort out my wife's heap of shite iPhone. He can ring me on my totally reliable Nokia (the one that gets 4 bars of signal while the i-Can't-Get-a-sIgnal-Phone founders) and I'll pop the kettle on.

one for the weight weenies, if you have 2 diferents bikes, one alu one steel , with exactly the same compoments (wheels, cranks, gears if there roads bikes...)
will be the alu lighter than the steel?
how much lighter?
the steel nothing special, just normal 531 or some chromoly like a in a Steamroller -
• #4007
Probably a bit lighter. About the same weight as your beard, give or take.
-
• #4008
whichever one weighs more than the other will be heavier, there is no other way to tell.

well what did you expect? in general alu frames are lighter but i'm sure there are some tha weigh more
-
• #4011
The metal in the alu frame weighs less per volume, but they use more of it on a alu frame due to the fact it doesn't fatigue so well.
Mitre can correct me if im wrong, but a similar design of alu & steel frames would weigh about the same. I believe they get around this issue with oversize tubes.

If you use the same tube diameters and aim for the same stiffness, it is indeed true that steel and aluminium end up weighing almost exactly the same. With more oversized tubes available in aluminium without running into the critical diameter:thickness ratio which makes tube buckling a big problem, aluminium frames can be built as stiff as steel at a lower weight. A 531C road race frame in a medium size can be built at around 1.8kg, which is about where the cheap Taiwanese 6000 series aluminium frames are. At the top end, frames made in Dedacciai U2 or Easton Scandium doped 7000 alloy can be built under 1kg, at the cost of some durability. So, a cheap aluminium frame might actually weigh a bit more than a 531C frame, but a high quality one should be about 500g less.

I was thinking the entire chassis / body being hot dipped. Replace wings / boots as needed because that is easy.
distortion from the zinc coating process, the way vehicles are built now affect why this is not done.

My cycle to work has just been reduced to 3.5 miles each way.
Whilst I love cycling to work I can be assed to put on my lycra for just 3 miles then put on my suit once I get to work.
Would it be worth putting the top half of the suit on cycling to work and then putting the trousers on? I need some advice here!

What will you do if it rains?
-
• #4017
Well I've got mud guards and can wear naff trousers I don't mind getting wet. Carry the other ones with me to work and put them on once I get there.
Also I'll try and leave my suit jacket at work and shoes.

My commute's also a disappointingly small 3.5 miles, I just get changed (although I don't wear lycra, swrve shorts and stuff) as I can still get hot on my commute if I go fast/wear a layer too many by accident. It does take me about as long to get changed as it does to ride to work though.
-
• #4019
Yeah that's the problem I have, It takes me a while to get changed once I get to work. I just wonder whether It's worth wearing my shirt on the way with shorts then putting trousers and tie on once I get there.
