will they create a nice flat transition from bar to hood like modern brake levers do?
Better than old fashioned ones, but if you want really flat you probably need to spring for SRAM S500, which really are DoubleTap levers without the shifter.

Why are car chassis not hot dip galvanised? All good trailers are to reduce rust, it would prolong chassis life and hence car life. My last car was at 190 k miles and still going strong other than rust that meant repair was uneconomical, my Dad's put 250 k miles on his old van which was clocked to 5 k when he bought it at three years old so who knows what its full mileage was, rust was the downfall again.
As I understand it paint galvanised is more difficult but not impossible.
Is this purely a case of it's not in the interests for car manufacture having cars last a long time?

Yes.
You can have your existing chassis or buy new ones for Landies and other older cars.
Most cars these days have an inbuilt chassis. -

I was thinking the entire chassis / body being hot dipped. Replace wings / boots as needed because that is easy.
The kit form of land rovers is one thing that appeals to me about them. possible car for life.

I agree, it would be a great idea. I also think they have alterior motives.

Have you tried an iPhone?
Excellent idea! You'll then have so much other shite to worry about, you'll totally forget the original problem!
Is it back together then?
