Do you mean the sleeve in the middle between the cups? You'd probably be looking at custom fabrication. I did one in aluminium once, to be worthwhile it needs to incorporate o-rings to seal it.

LAN plugs are great. Dead easy plug and play, but only work on the same circuit in the house. If you're trying to get a signal from upstairs to downstairs, they won't work.

Apparently they don't like going through consumer units. So if your up and downstairs sockets are on the same ring then it'll work.
