• You can use a lockring that is on the same thread as cog.

Only if you want death in the face that is.

• I have a recurring back pain, there's someone on the forum who can help, i can't remember who though.

• Chainbreaker?

• Spinebreaker?

.

Meh, after the fun of a halo hub for a forumite.

• ^^^^ re back pain: tracht macher
Phonetic version of what they used to call the "right maker" in Mennonite villages.
If you ever meet one, walk away.

Someone with a forum name similar too, but not, Blueripoo is a physio.

• How much will it cost to have some threaded forks chopped to a shorter length and then rethreaded to fit a smaller frame?

I would probably go to Tokyo Fixed Gear, Condor or a similar London store for this.

wut

• Yeah, not that helpful. Cannot remember how they actually spell it.

• Here we go: https://www.lfgss.com/thread29902.html

Bluerip00 is the person.

lmnh charged me 25

• Had to remove some paint from my fork crown as it had cracked, and wanted to make sure it was just the paint. What can I use to remove the rest of the paint, as my fork now looks shit? It chipped away easily enough around the brake hole, but is proving more resilient elsewhere

• Heatgun and a screwdriver.

• Does 14bike co use the email adresses from this forum to send its newsletter ?

• Does 14bike co use the email adresses from this forum to send its newsletter ?

I doubt it as I've never had one from them.

Also I'm pretty sure Velocio wouldn't share that sort of data.

• Q
Sheldon mentions using two cogs on a flip-flop hub. How is this achieved?

by screwing one on either side

from internet:
I have a 15t on my freewheel side with a bottom bracket lockring for insurance. I would not run this on the street, but it is fine for the track. The rental bikes at the track just have a cog screwed on the freewheel side.
why OK for the track but not the street? stopping/ skidding?

Twin fixed? You can use a lockring that is on the same thread as cog.

doesn't a lockring threaded the same direction as a cog defeat the purpose...

Only if you want death in the face that is.

...hence the above comment?

Lynx, anyone that can give an appropriate answer deserves a gold star in telepathy.

how can i clarify? x

• Some flip flop hubs are fixed/fixed, you didn't specify fixed/free.

You said 2 cogs on one hub, you could've meant both on one side.

Really, your question wasn't very well placed, hence the lack of a decent answer.

Now we're more clear, yes you can run one with a BB lockring on one side, but not advisable brakeless. I ran like this on the track and it was fine. If riding the street you may want some high strength loctite as well...

• thank you x

• Basically the bb lockring doesn't do much, make sure you rotoscope the cog on well and it's as close to safe as you can get without getting a fixed/fixed hub (might as well only get fixed/fixed hubs as free wheels will fit on fixed threads, but the other way isn't really safe)...

The reason everyone says it's fine on the track but not on the road is because if it comes off on the track the worst that will happen is you'll get run over by a bike...

• Anyway my question, I have a laptop, Ubuntu runs fine, windows is horrifically slow, even in safe mode.

I've tried removing some start up processes, to no avail. Any other suggestions?

For further info it's windows 7, 64bit, the laptop is fairly powerful.

• Am off to Edinburgh tomorrow for 4 nights for a bit of a mini-break type scenario.

what should HatBroad and I do while we're there*

I think deep fried pizza supper or similiar is definitely going to have to be on the list. any recommendations for places where i can stop my heart with fried food near to the city centre?

*asides from freeze our bits off obvs.

• If you're in need of a laugh, go to the Tartan Weaving Mill & Exhibition, its so bad it's funny.

The Castle is good but expensive.

The National Museum of Scotland is both free and great fun, the 4 person track bike is certainly a winner, and the science bit with Dolly the Sheep, the mini rocket you can lauch, the F1 simulator and the robot that will spell your name were personal favories

The Museum on the Mound was good too.

Pubwise, The Halfway House was good last time I was there

• The Tennent's Tour.

It's just you looking about Edinburgh but drinking a can of Tennent's.
