Don't know, but they do make VGA to composite/S-video converter boxes, from £40 up.

I've got a screw-on cassette disc wheel, and I'm looking for a 'spacer', so I can run it as a singlespeed. Any cheaper alternatives to the 25£ one on eBay?
-
• #30779
BB spacers are the same size.

Clarification: I'm looking for a spacer that threads onto the hub, and have an external thread as well, which will place my singlespeed freewheel at a 42 mm chainline.

I got a track pump question.
Topeak Joe Blow (yellow and black type) isn't working. I've had it a couple of years. If I attach the Presta head to my valve and secure it with the lever, when I pump no air is pushing into the tyre, it is escaping from the opposite (Schrader) side.
I've removed both O rings and they look ok. I've tightened the flat head screw bit that secures the lever... Is it time for a new pump or am I overlooking something?
Over to you brain team.

Really silly question but are you turning the lever the right way...?
We have the same pump at work and even after nearly a year of using it I turned the lever the wrong way and couldn't understand why it wasn't working.
-
• #30784
Yes, sorry I should have included that in my summary. Lever turned in correct direction: Check.

Oh and no probs with the tyre valves either as other pumps are working fine and this problem extends to all my tubes, bikes - regardless.

I sold my fixed gear at the start of this year, starting to miss is somewhat. But I don't really have the time/ money for another bike so thinking of converting my VN Yukon (currently geared, 105) in to a fixed frame but so I can use it geared also.
How much of a good/stupid idea is this?
All I can think of is the cables will be a pain to swap over. But if I buy new brake levers surely they can all be lifted together?
-

shit, didnt think of that.
do they still make those shit usb videocard things with composite output? How about DVI(like VGA port but white and squarer) to HDMI? The video parts are electrically identical so it's just an adapter.
Tl;Dr: get a modern telly.

ha!
still on crt, i just want to watch films off my laptop...
that still doesn't solve the problem, i need either vga to scart or hdmi to scart as those are the outputs that the laptop has.
cheers anyway -

Get a Raspberry Pi and watch your videos off SD card. It has a yellow composite jack for video and a 3.5mm jack for audio.
If you've got a network-shared drive for your media you could even stream all your content to the Pi over a normal network cable.
One Pi is about £30 including VAT and postage.

i guess it depends on how often you think you'll be riding fixed. does your frame have horizontal dropouts?
you'll have to remove derailleurs and cables etc each time you want to change over, so it sounds like a bit of a pain to me. -

Is there any reason why the plastic cup on my shimano BB keeps cracking? too tight? too loose? I've been through two in a year.
-
• #30794
Grit in the threads, or frame needs re-facing?
-
• #30795
no grit, threads were chased when I got the frame sprayed at armourtex. Not sure how facing would help?
-
• #30796
Is it an external type BB ?
-
• #30797
nope, standard UN26 (I think) square taper jobbie
considered buying one of those "up cup"s but it costs almost as much as a new BB -

It does sounds like a pain in the ass.

i know it's good to have one bike for everything, but changing over half the cables on the bike doesn't really sound like it's worth it.
-
• #30800
It was just a case of me wanting to ride it fixed for a while.
But I see where your coming from. I may have to wait a while and buy another track frame before long.
shit, didnt think of that.
