  • Depends what you mean by better spotter? Wordpress is the biggest blog platform but they may be other choices more suited to you.

I wish to host the blog on my existing site, it will be about photography.

  • Wordpress skinned properly can look great for photo blogs.

At least if you go with the wordpress option and decide later on to start writing (maybe you want to already, I don't know) you can.

The organisation of wordpress is also very easy, that's where tumblr looses a lot of ground.

  • I will never use tumblr, i should probably learn how to use wp anyway.

  • Is there going to be any writing or all exclusively photographs?

  • writing for citations and captions and such.

  • Could someone near putney please lend me a shimano cassette tool for an hour or so tonight please? Think I lost mine when I moved house. Thanks!

  • I'm in Shepherds bush if you can't find someone closer.

  • Are there any other notable wordpress alternatives? I'm not adverse to wordpress i'd just be interested if theres anything better

if your totally styling the site from scratch and using wordpress as a content manager, then no.

If your just making a pretty blog then i've heard bloggers better..

  • I used to ride/race a bit of bmx & mtb... I think it's given me significantly better skills than alot of cyclists that have just done road riding....

Yeah, wearing baggy clothes, cleaning mud out of your ears, adjusting disc brakes...

  • I was thinking of all the proprietary shit Shimano have thrown at us over the years, rather than just the external BB design.

I'm in Mortlake but won't be back until about 7.

Just to check I'm on the same page, when you say casette tool do you mean the little lock nut thingy?

  • I'm after some new 27" wheels to revive a 1960s/70s ish frame. I'll be getting the stays spread to take a 130mm hub so I can run 9 speed, which I assume means I'll have to buy some new road hubs and some new (or NOS) 27" rims and have them built up.

What are the options for new 27" rims and tyres like? I've had a go on google and looked at some of the usual suspects (eg SJS Cycles) but there doesn't seem to be much on the go. I'd just like something good, but frankly the 27" equivalent of a Mavic Open Sport (or similar) would probably do the job.

Does such a beast exist? Any advice appreciated - and apologies if this has been covered already.

Anyone got an opinion on Velocity Twin Hollow rims versus Rigida AS27 rims? The velocities are £40 each, the rigidas £25. I suspect the velocities are better, but are they £15/rim better? I don't really know much about this. Has anyone here built wheels with either?

  • Probably a very stupid question but when you buy tyres online do they come as a pair?

  • M3x0.5 5MM

What does this translate to? Where can I get screws like this? Ebay comes up with nothing.

  • isn't that just a 5mm long m3 bolt with 0.5mm pitch?

  • That's what I thought but I bought those already and they don't fit. I'm not sure what I'm reading is right..

  • yeah that sounds weird. 0.5mm pitch is standard if i remember rightly.

  • Probably a very stupid question but when you buy tyres online do they come as a pair?

unless it specifically states they are a pair then no

  • A few pages back, I posted r.e. a missing split washer in my headset.

Stonehedge gave me a split washer, I put in in - the headset won'e tighten up properly (leaves a gap between upper race and steerer tube). I take it out - the headset wont tighten up properly (wobbles around).

It's one of these Ribble ones: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Headsets-Ribble-Headset-Branded-Ribble-1-1-8-Hidden-ITS-45-x-45/RIBBHSTR200000000000

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Just in case it's useful for anyone else, I've closed out this issue:

I emailed Ribble and asked if their headsets came with split compression rings. They replied: 'no'.

I bought a new headset from Condor and it came with a split compression ring. The 'ring fitted. Everything, other than the logo on the top caps, is basically identical about the two headsets.

    Ribble were telling fibs :-/

  • does anyone know of a vga to scart cable that actually works?

  • A cable won't work, you need a conversion box, at the very least to generate composite sync from the separate H & V sync on VGA, but if your TV is not high end it probably won't like the RGB component feed either so you'll need to bundle everything onto one composite video pin.

  • right, cheers.
hdmi to scart? or is that a similar situation?

  • Much worse; HDMI is digital, SCART is analogue.

  • Any ideas?

Check your shoes aren't too tight + cleat position wrong. I had this problem and adjusting cleats/loosening shoes helped. I should mention I was professionally fitted for the cleats.
