^ aargh. NO. I realise I'm from the right area but I am not a member of Dirty Sanchez.
I got the blister from playing polo. I have a hole in the glove from polo so I guess it started wearing at my hand instead. It's pretty funky how you can push everything inside around.

I have a 2p sized blood blister on the palm of my hand. Pop it or leave it?
The nurse in me says leave it, nice and sterile at the mo. :)

So the part of you that isn't a nurse is saying to video me popping it then see how many hits it gets on youtube?

Cut a hole in it and suck it through a straw.
I'll donate £1 to a charity of your choice.

I'm just trying to fix a wheel for a mate. It has a split nipple. Its a 24h front Vuelta Chromelite with 4.5mm bladed spokes. I can't find out which gauge nipple to replace it with. The spokes are manufactured by Alpina and are definitely larger than 2mm at the business end ( that is the largest nipple I've tried on it).
I got my micrometer out and I'm getting a reading of 2.30mm just next to the thread and exactly 2.5mm on the actual spoke thread.
What gauge spoke/nipple am I dealing with here? I can find 2.3mm and 2.5mm online...
Cheers
Slow reply, but the measurement you want is the flat, unthreaded part of the spoke just before the thread begins. When the threads are rolled (and on good spokes they should be rolled rather than cut) the recess is effectively narrower but the raised part is effectively wider, hence the larger measurement on the thread itself.

You were looking forward to popping that all yesterday, can't believe you haven't done it yet.

^^ Looking at the Alpina stuff I think all their spokes are either 2.0mm or 2.32mm at the thread end.

I was too tired when I got home last night. It would have been a wasted experience.

Thats great, many thanks mate.
I went with the unrolled measurement in the end as you suggested. 13G it is.
I'm pretty happy with how accurate my micrometer is. It is about as old as a metric micrometer could be and is easily accurate to one or two hundredths of a mm still.
When I first got it it was way out. I thought I needed to calibrate it but it turned out I just needed to clean some corrosion and dirt off the contact points. After that it has been pretty much perfect since. I've got a cheap digital micrometer and whilst it is pretty good it is comparatively inconsistent.
