  • Most bottles have small mouths on them but some of the older Hi5 ones have a large screw top. I keep a tube, multi tool, spanner and tyre levers in there. Also pretty handy for putting keys in so long as they don't fall to the bottom.

that is actually genius! might try that.

  • I know people who used to cut the tops off bottles and use them like that but that means your tools get rusty. Better to keep them sealed in an old bottle you don't use.

  • Sounds like the perfect idea to me for cycling to work. I'll be able to a small pump in there too.

  • I cannot see a minimum insertion line on a new seatpost, is there a rule of thumb that can give me an accurate idea of where the minimum insertion point is?

  • Usual neuroma treatment is cortizone injections innit?

Which quack did you see, dammit

is the frame alu or steel? lugged or welded?

  • TIG welded alu

  • I would have it extend 2 or 3 cm below the bottom of weld between TT and ST

  • That is pretty much what I figured cheers.

  • i've always liked BBB's ones, nice screw on top

  • you often see bikes with chromed chainstays. sometimes the seat stays also. is this purely aesthetic or is there a good reason? is it a chainstay protecter before those sticky plastic things came to the fore?

  • Yes, chrome plate is more chip-resistant than stove enamel.

  • I use an old chainreaction bottle that I got for free. The neck was a bit thin so I widened it a little bit, you can't reseal it but with a spare tub poking out the top I wouldn't be able to anyway. It's on my race bike so not much risk of tools rusting.

  • what is the general opinion about Altura clothing? It is cheap and shit, or it is good value for money?
are they a independent brand or are part of another company?
    thanks in advance

  • not quite the same i know, but my altura panniers and rack bag are top notch

  • I've had a few pairs of bibs and a gilet, all have been good for the money.

  • i've had a winter jacket for years and love it - it's as water proof as you can get before things start to feel like a wet suit, keeps the wind off and warmth in and never feels too hot

  • I'm after some bibs
my only issue was that they seen to be the choice of all commuters, and I dont if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
I guess I will go for them and see.

  • Is there anything you can do about mouldy books?

god I can't wait to move out of this flat.

  • good grief.

thanks. I think I'll just bin them though.

  • if they're good books just dry them out? you won't get any stains/spots off but it stops them getting any worse.
if they're pulp paperbacks, leave them outside in a box they'll soon go.

  • I should probably hold onto them as evidence in case the landlord tries to withhold my deposit, come to think of it :I
