I had an appointment with a consultant today, it did not go well.
He said that whilst my description of the issue was 100% consistant with a Neurona, and I had had one removed from my other foot ~12 months ago, he could find not clinical indications of it.
Therefore he was going to send me for an MRI, but if that did not give a clear indication then he would not operate.
Now this all seems reasonable, but the overiding impression I got during the appointment was that he'd already made his mind up not to operate, and that an orthotic insert was the thing to go for.
Basically, he does not believe my report of the symptoms.
Am I best off requesting a different consultant now, or after the MRI?

Are you private or NHS?

I would say go with your current consultant and see what he says after the MRI scan, if you still feel that he is not listening to you and your concerns ask to see another consultant.
Just out of curiosity which hospital?

Most bottles have small mouths on them but some of the older Hi5 ones have a large screw top. I keep a tube, multi tool, spanner and tyre levers in there. Also pretty handy for putting keys in so long as they don't fall to the bottom.
SIS 1L bottles have a large mouth.

If the MRI is clear you won't need a new consultant.

Oh ok, don't know anyone that works there if you were at one of the HCA hospitals I could have done some asking around for you with regards to the consultant.

They are pretty open to interpretation Andy- not cut and dried as you might imagine.
If this consultant is looking at the MRI for a reason not to operate, he'll find it.
My last consultant disputed the notes that the MRI team had written, after looking at the images himself.
Of course, he may have been looking for what he wanted to find, also- but he did remove a Neurona when he operated.

should I use my chainwhip to tighten a cog or the rotafix method, or both?
-
• #23198
Would you buy a dog and bark yourself?
-
• #23199
chainwhip is safer as rotafix can put too much pressure on it and kill the threading.
Tighten it, tighten the lockring ride a bit, preferably up a small hill then tighten the lock ring again. -

Dammit the consultant will not be looking at the MRI the radiologist will be you can also ask for a second report to be written by another radiologist if you want. Ask to see the report that the radiologist has written and see if there is a discrepancy between what that says and what the consultant says.
Bear in mind, if you are an NHS patient at a private hospital the consultant may not make as much money from you as he/she would from a fully private patient dependent on the contract between the hospital and local NHS trust.
