  • I did my first ones at the end of the summer.
Had used tape before. I'd say the bond is definitely stronger with cement.
I used the continental stuff and followed their instructions, but squeezed their crazy long 2 day process into 2 hours.
Worked like a dream, on straight and no mess. Did cover the floor in newspaper before I started though.
Make sure you remember to sort out somewhere where you can hang the tube to let it dry between coats before you have it in your hand and have to sort something out one handed!

  • What alernatives to Flash, Silverlight and SVG do we have for creating interactive floor plan maps for web/mobile?

Any reason not to put the tub on a spare rim the "wrong way round" as it were, with the base tape facing out, and just paint it with glue that way?

  • Pump it up, it'll turn inside out naturally.

  • German grammer is ambiguous when translated with google translate. The listing states that the Cannondale cranks, and a BB30, are needed for the system, but not part of the price.

  • Thanks chaps- would axis mean axle, maybe?

  • Axle of evil.

  • Axis of Awesome

  • I'm going to assume that axis means axle.

  • Oh dear, those automated translations are so full of mistakes. :)

    Yes, "Achse" means 'axle'.

  • "He's fallen on his achse"

  • I'm not familiar with common sales terminology, so don't know what 'buyout price' means, but "Sofortkaufpreis auf Anfrage" means that if you enquire they'll tell you the 'buy it now' price.

  • "Clive's fallen on his achse"

    Not again!

  • Oh dear, those automated translations are so full of mistakes. :)

    Yes, "Achse" means 'axle'.

Thank you Oliver, this is why I wanted the translation from a person who spoke the language.

Oh nicely those automated translations with mistakes are so full.:)

    Yes, "axis" signifies 'axis'.

    English>German>English

  • Thank you Oliver, this is why I wanted the translation from a person who spoke the language.

I understand German enough to know what's written, but I can't be bothered to translate properly and write it down. Somewhere there, there's a professional translator's child going without a dinner tonight.

  • Until just now I thought that tubs weren't actually tube-like but more like clinchers which weren't clinched and had to be glued in place (i.e. U-shaped in cross-section not circular).

In fact, I never understood why tape would work at all, since most tape is hardly capable of forming an air-tight seal between rim and rubber. Particularly at 100+ PSI.

In my mind's eye I saw a bunch of highly retentive chaps supergluing rubber tyres to rims in a process probably taking days. I had been deeply impressed by people willing to fix a flat on their tubs at the roadside when obviously an operating theatre or dust-free semiconductor manufacturing type environment would be more conducive to creating that tricky air-tight seal.

I am clearly an utter moron.

    As you were...

  • My friend bought a brand new xbox roughly a year ago (31/12/10) and it broke a while ago, he sent it of to microsoft to be repaired and they've told him that the warranty if void because it had been opened and tampered with and thus want to charge him £150. He hasn't done this, i know he hasn't because he can barely word a screwdriver, but its their work against his. This is also his 3rd xbox (they've all broken), so he's a pretty loyal xbox customer. He phoned trading standards and they said to take it back to comet (where he bought it from) and complain, taking independent evidence with him. I've not a clue how he is meant to prove he didn't do it, can anyone make a suggestion?
apart from buy a PS3, that was the first thing i said.

  • What's exactly wrong with it? Something you can look at and try to fix?

  • hide his arms behind his back with shirt on top and feign disability, "how can I unscrew that, I've got no fucking arms!"

  • Take it back to where he bought it, no? Let them deal with the return/repairs.
