  • Well, where the cut is is where was ideal for me...

  • measure how far from that cut it is to the middle of the seat clamp

  • How long is the post?

  • 205mm from seat clamp to end, 70mm from end to min insert, 35mm from clamp to max insert, 100mm between max and min.

  • measure how far from that cut it is to the middle of the seat clamp

    um, I think it's 160mm

  • I have 2 spare seatposts that would work. You're welcome to the better of them. A boardman won't be 27.0, it will be 27.2.
I will be at richmond park later if you want the seatpost.

  • Right, managed to get the Leader's post in and yes, the Boardman is 27.2mm. Now to make sure I don't cut this fucker in half, too.

  • Use a torque wrench!

  • get a Ritchey torq key, £12 from Condor or a tenner online. Set at 4 or 5nm so you won't fuck anything.
Or just use a really small allen key so you can't get any leverage.

  • Those Ritchey Torq keys would be ace if you could change the bit size.

  • apparently you can

  • Not with the one I bought, not without doing it sufficient violence to doubt it's "setting" afterward anyway.

A vice and a hammer looked to be the easiest option.

  • Hmm. Truli said you can. He's spanish so I'm not going to believe him though.

  • my super expensive, super comfortable assos bib shorts have worn so thin at the back that when i'm on my bike you can clearly see an inch of arse crack through what now looks like thin, ladies tights material.
it's not pleasant for anyone behind me but the shorts are my favorite and i can't afford to replace them -in every other respect they are still in perfect working order.

any ideas how to fix them?

  • Longer Jersey? The only other way I can think of is sewing an unsightly patch on.

  • longer jersey is a good shout, or a patch on the inside?

  • or just keep them as is and avoid wearing them when riding in gentlelady company....

  • Or wear them exclusively in the company of gentle ladies :D

  • Patches don't really work on lycra, especially where the thinning has been described.

Things wear out, get santa to bring new ones, until then you should rock the superman look.

  • The cape is Compulsory.

  • alternatively, volunteer to ride sweeper position when in groups...

  • The cape is Compulsory.

    you name your cape?

  • You need merino boxers or these:

I've done this to many many pairs now. My solution is to wince and buy new ones :(

If you don't then you have no right to wear a cape.

BRM will destroy you, in the face with fire etc.
