CYOA- probably not what you want to hear, but I reckon you are going to be best using a stencil and painting those animals onto the leather using a specific leather paint/dye.

She do, and did the Dunwich Dynamo on it too (your typical pretty classic fixed wheel track bike), pretty impressive for someone who hasn't ridden a night ride let alone a century before.
i hope you weren't following really close and dribbling.

Can you print out some the animal transfers in white blocks first, apply those, the plonk the coloured ones on top?
In theory that's a winner but because they're transfers and have thick white paper backs and I'd be gluing them down, there's no way to see that they're lined up correctly :(

I think you're certainly right and that's almost certainly how the originals were done, but I'm technically inept and I reckon this'll suit it's purpose fine. Just have to keep plugging away at it :) -

Or, do the reverse of what you are currently doing- create a sheet of animals the correct layout and the size of the side of the bag/whatever it is.
Cut out the animals, then attach the paper to the leather- I've forgotten it's name, but the stuff that airbrush artists use to mask with would be good for this I think.
Then, using a fairly big brush paint over all the animals that are that colour, move onto next colour etc etc.
Then, when dry, remove the paper and maybe outline the animal shapes- a fine paint pen is going to be easiest for this bit I would think.
This would have the advantage (apart from the cutting out animals bit) of being really fast.

Please don't ask bicycle related questions on this DIY and Graphic arts forum :-)
Undo mounting bolt, rotate mech about the centre of curvature of the bracket lug, tighten bolt, notice that it's moved again as you tightened it and the chain still rubs, repeat until head explodes.
cool - so i'm doing it right then

Black ones in Essex

might be worth ringing them to see if they have/can get natural coloured ones, assuming that's what you want. -
