Why is it bullshit that they want to upgrade the bike to go faster? You reckon it's pure pose value?

You've said yourself your deep section wheels are for posing, not to shave a minute of your 25 time. In this case, why buy lighter components if the bike isn't being raced? I'm not talking about dropping a kilo or two off a commuter machine to make it easier to carry up stairs here.

BTW, I rode the 24hr on one of the cheapest carbon frames available at the time, a £500 P-X Stealth. The £3.5k S-Works (which used to be raced and now gathers dust and French rainwater) spent the 24 on the back of the car as a spare.

Anyway, everyone knows it's just crotchety old riders annoyed at other people with better bits than they ever had. Play with your new toys, enjoy them.

I have an interview for a job next monday. It's at 4.45 in shadwell, and can not be at any other time. I am meant to finish work at 4.45 in st john's wood. If I was with my old supervisor it wouldn't be a problem, but it's gonna be my new supervisor's first day so I can't exactly piss off at 3.30

what's a good excuse I can use to leave at 3.30? I haven't met the guy yet so I dont know if he's sound or not. This also raises the question of what to do with him for the last hour of the day after I ditch him, if he is sound. Ffuuuuuuu

Dont tell your employers that you have an interview. Ask if you can have the afternoon off. As you Need to go to the dentist and the only oppointment you can get is next monday afternoon. Best option!

What's the cheapest / easiest way to post a bike?

bike box from your lbs, pack it up, weight it and note the box dimentions then use someone like parcels 2 go, get it collected from your house/where ever
