what sort of protection does paypal offer against counterfeit tickets bought through ebay?
only asking as a mate needs to get hold of a reading weekend ticket - anyone got one? -

@ lynx, isn't that the place that just used to sell Create bikes, then when they all got returned for shitty broken bottom brackets they switched to another generic taiwanese multi coloured bike?

But it is a good idea to have some training wheels for the day to day, and if you only have the space for one set then something like the EA90 SLX are a good compromise- light, no weight limit, clinchers.
When they come up on eBay they go for around £300.
the EA90 SLX are only 250g lighter than my current wheels.
Thanks for the info about Force, I will definitely look in to that as I need some more Sram levers in my life. That and lighter tyres/tubes. -

Any ideas where i could get some gloves embroidered in a hurry?
Bought some leather cycling gloves for the lady and would like one word embroidered on each near the wrist. Hopefully means easier to access as they can be opened up here. Been in a few tailors who haven't been much help, with one saying it could be £1 a letter by hand or 10p a letter by machine. Machine would be ideal. By hand would mean it aint gonna happen.

250g is loads!
Especially to be able to lose on the wheels, if you did that, plus say Diamante pro light tyres and latex tubes you'd really notice the difference.
Possibly due to the number of p_nct_r_s you start getting, but also hopefully in terms of responsivness and so forth.
Also, BMMF has a point but I don't see why you cannot upgrade the bike whilst training hard- it's not as though one precludes the other.

You don't even have to train that hard to get tangible effects within a few weeks, equal to or more than those you'd get from upgrading a bike that's already built for speed/acceleration.
But if you've got money to burn, whatever (though looking around, it seems those who train hard first and then start looking for tiny percentages through gear upgrades go a lot faster than those who go for the upgrades first, usually because subconsciously the latter are looking for results without training, so the training never gets done in the end i.e. do you want to get faster, or do you just want to spend money on bike parts?).

my giant goes pretty quick, weighs more than your (henry) bmc and has had nothing done to reduce its weight. the Looks weighs nothing and has lots of shiny advantage-eking gubbins and never goes anywhere.
just ride the thing and stop worrying. -

I have an interview for a job next monday. It's at 4.45 in shadwell, and can not be at any other time. I am meant to finish work at 4.45 in st john's wood. If I was with my old supervisor it wouldn't be a problem, but it's gonna be my new supervisor's first day so I can't exactly piss off at 3.30
what's a good excuse I can use to leave at 3.30? I haven't met the guy yet so I dont know if he's sound or not. This also raises the question of what to do with him for the last hour of the day after I ditch him, if he is sound. Ffuuuuuuu

Take the day off, or move the interview.

This is sound advice.

There would seem to be some sort of puritan hair-shirt attitude at work here though, making the assumption that if you are upgrading things you are doing so whilst sat on the sofa, halfway through your second pack of Lucky Strike, spooning lard directly out of the tub into your chin be-decked jaw.
I would suggest that it is possible to both upgrade parts and train, without having to earn the right to upgrade your own bike by first doing Le Tour on a BikeOfScoble.

Anyway, about these ceramic bearings I'm thinking about buying...

Training, not spending.

People can upgrade all they want, but I'd rather not hear a load of bullshit about it being because they want to go faster; especially if they're already using high-end equipment i.e. not a Specialized Allez with Sora and some fucking Mavic Aksiums and platform pedals or some fucking shit like fucking that or fucking something.
-
• #16567
Why is it bullshit that they want to upgrade the bike to go faster?
You reckon it's pure pose value?
-
• #16568
Bollocks to this, I'm off to buy some lard for dinner.
-
• #16569
fucking Mavic Aksiums
Fucking Mavic Aksiums are faster than fucking Mavic Ksyriums or fucking Mavic R-Sys. Fact.

I'll admit part of me wanting my bike to be lighter is for pose value. I don't have money to spend and I'm trying to get as many miles in as possible around my job. I've bought some Ultremo R tyres to replace my gatorskins so have saved 280 grams already. I'm going to save for a Sram Force groupset now, might take a couple of months but it's nice to have a target. It's not like I'll pay retail price for it anyway.

don't get me wrong, I still love my BMC and it still makes me smile every time I ride it.
Does anyone have an 8 speed shimano cassette?
In good nick, almost new, for not very many $$££?
Or can you point me at a good new price? thanks.
